Unhappy CD Changer problem

CD changer won't change nor will it play any CDs. Indicates error after trying to read. Anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to manually get the CDs out? AM & FM work fine. 69,000 km (43,000 mi) so of course I am outside the bumper to bumper warranty. Should I trust the dealer with this?

dealer won't fix it.

you can take it to a good electronic shop and they might be able to retrieve your discs, but chances are the CD player is shot.

this behavior is typical when a disc falls off the loading tray. A few here have been successful in using a Credit Card and pushing the eject button at the same time they shuffle the card back and forth in the slot and try to catch the cd and lift it back out.

but unfortunately more have been unsuccessful. basically the unit is jammed and it is not smart enough to know it is jammed so it keeps running the motor until the motor burns up from being unable to completely spin.

I recently bought a nav unit on ebay for $300 that had a cracked LCD, but the changer worked fine, I swapped that changer for a bad one on another members unit (theirs did the same thing as yours)...

if you have purchased and extended service contract, then it is covered. They will replace the whole unit.
