Dealer really took care of me... Pics included Coolant

Have to give it up to Airpark Chrysler, I have heard some bad things...

Anyway they really took care of me, I asked for a flush and fill and new overtflow bottle, and they did all of the above.

Here are some before and afters.

Thank you to EricG and all the others on this great forum

Tonight I put a 180 Tstat in our 300C Heritage Edition and it gave me a look at the differences in the coolant systems and what I believe to be another aspect of the gunk aftermath in my MSRT8.

Here's a pic of how the Tstat well looked (with residual "good" coolant) in the H.E. when I removed the stock Tstat...

The coolant is nice and red without any evidence of the white particulates that give it that lighter, milky appearance.

Here's what the Tstat end of the radiator hose looked like (this on the H.E.)...

Looks pretty good. Nice, completely black interior coating. Now compare the above picture to the similar picture I took after changing out the Tstat on the MSRT8.

Quite a difference...!!! It is my guess that the elevated temperatures in the coolant controlled by the stock Tstats, in combination with the gritty particulates circulating in the SRT8 coolant prior to the flush is what resulted in essentially etching away most of the surface coating of black on my SRT8.

I would be interested in other SRT8 owners investigating whether their Tstat housing end of the radiator hose also shows this kind of evidence.

Power steering replacement

Heard a weird noise, took the car in, had the power steering replaced (20,000 miles on my 300C) and as I was walking into the shop to pick up my car, I was planning my argument. Even though it wasn 't the dealer that sold us the car (they're an hour north) they were great. I thought I'd have to argue with them about my warranty but nope. Now I trust them which is unusual for me - I NEVER trusted a dealership before. Ruges in Rhinebeck wins! Claire H.

When the car was taken in for the recent trans leak, dealer said that there was a recall for the overflow tank?

Is that what you had done? They swapped to a new tank? What was wrong w/the old one?

Yes thre is a TSB, not sure about a RECALL... But jeesh there must be 5000 posts about bad crappy white floaties, and nasty coolant. I had the flush, new coolant, new coolant additive, new overflow container done. Open your tank, see if you see some nasties in there, and also smell it. If it smells really nasty like amonia than take it in. There is a certain build date on teh coolant TSB check the TSB section on the forum...

The coolant issue on the SRTs and V6 engines is not a TSB (doubt it will be), it is actually a Rapid Response bulletin. As I understand it, an issue has to be aparent for a TSB to be performed where a RR is more universally applied. Could be wrong but that's how it was explained to me.

Just had the whole thing done (bottle, cap, flush, additive). Looks better than new, but now the car smells like antifreeze! I know it is from the residual when they flushed and filled it, but it gets on my nerves! I just wish it would go away already!
