I had a tranny issue last week. Took it in today... they said that there was barely any tranny fluid in it, but no leak... does that make sense? I just got charged $191 to get a tranny flush, filter and refil. Do you think it would have been the TSB issue and they just didn't want to replace it on their dollar?

I feel your pain, I have spent the past 3 years defending American built cars, and I feel embarrassed now to have my car in the shop for a transmission leak and some strange steering malfunction.

Had the transmission leak in the garage on Sunday, and brought it over to Chrylser (300C 2006) and this is most likely what it is.

There is also some change over to ATF +4 going on too?

Well you can blame the Germans for the transmission leak; this is a Mercedes-Benz 5 speed automatic. Mercedes had this SAME PROBLEM back in 1996, according to a good friend who's a technician at a Mercedes dealership in Southern California. Now the obvious question for Chrysler is of course..... WHY didn't they use the 'upgraded' O-Rings in the first place given the fact it was a known issue from 10 years ago?

If there was "barely any tranny fluid" in it, you would have had to have it towed there. More than a quart or 2 low and the car isn't going anywhere. An automatic transmission not only uses the fluid to lubricate but also for hydraulic pressure. No fluid = No hydraulic pressure (clutches can't engage) = Car won't move.

Now if you did have the leak you would have seen a puddle on the ground, so i doubt that was it. What "issue" did you have? and How many miles does your car have on it. I believe the manual recommends servicing the transmission at 30,000 miles? So it may have been due for service but it's highly unlikely that a service alone would cure any transmission problem.

My car has 84,000Km's so i'm not sure how many miles that is. The issue was that the tranny shifted hard, and sometimes when I put it in gear and pressed the gas, it would just rev really high and creep along. But after the service it did actually fix the problem. It shifts fine now. I don't even remember seeing any fluid leak at all.

Dropped mine off at the dealer yesterday 4pm and got he call at noon today that is was ready. Trans leak was the pesky o ring and the air bag fault was a bad switch.

I will say this, when I take it in for service my dealer is on the ball getting it done!

parked the charger after noticing the first couple drops on the sealed concrete garage floor and stopped by the dealership. according to the service writer, I was a one in a million case they don't have problems with transmissions and that an electrical connector can't leak oil. I mentioned that it appears to be a very common... he cut me off and said... "what, on the internet? can't believe everything you read." just then a tech was walking by and said, "electrical connector? transmission? charger? 99% it's your 12-pin on the NAG1.

welp... took it in... and...

...1 hour later I was on my way.

interesting note... the tech said that you have to drain about 1 quart to replace the connector so, once you're past the first quart it might not leak as much when parked. overall a decent experience minus watching the lot monkeys move the car around.

there was a black SRT8 up on a lift with the wheels off. it had the same spot pattern on the pan as mine did. I pointed it out and they said, "that's a new one... just got it in." guess they haven't learned their lesson with this frikkin connector at the factory yet. :-\
