Recall on exterior dimming mirrors?

I got a letter from Chrysler this week saying that 2007 300's equipped with the Luxury Group II package weren't built with the proper electronic circuitry for the exterior dimming mirrors.

I checked with my dealer yesterday to have this fixed but they couldn't find any information on this problem with Chrysler (as in what parts are required or what fixes are needed... there are no TSB's as near as they could tell). Has anyone else received similar letters and do you know what part numbers they used? (The only info the letter gives is to contact your dealer for repairs...) Thanks for your help.

RS,
How is it that you have such quick access to this information and the dealership in question had no idea what the customer was talking about even though he had the letter? And, your transmittal for this was dated 8/16!!

Don't they all have access to DealerCONNECT or something like that for accessing this type of information?

Yes, but the process can be quite involved and time consuming for some of the dealers out there. In extreme cases, it can take as many as 3-4 mouse clicks to find the transmittals, and sometimes may even require keyboard input of as many as 5-8 characters. Since it can take as long as 15-30 seconds time-wise, and sometimes as long as a whopping 45 seconds, many dealers just don't have the time or ambition to look them up.

RS,
I love your sarcastic sense of good humor, lol!
You are such a wizard! I'm tempted to fax this reply to all DCX dealerships.

I didn't know they added the passenger side dimming mirror as an option for 2007.

I love the fact that Chrysler is offering you the $85 back to forget the whole thing.

First off, Chrysler determined that this fix would take 1.4 hours. After reading through the 49 rather detailed steps to install this feature, I would be surprised if they were able to do this in twice the time.

I also worry that the clown doing this install would screw something (else) up!

My mirror is now fixed (it took the dealer about 3 weeks to get the parts in) and they needed about 5 hours to get things fixed (so the 1.4 hour estimate from Chrysler is a bit off).

And the $85 payoff to live with the broken mirror was a bit insulting (considering you couldn't buy and install a mirror like that for anything close to $85).

The funny thing is that I noticed that the mirror wasn't really dimming and I was going to get them to check it out to see if I was crazy... but luckily the letter arrived before I had to resort to trying to convince the dealer that the mirror wasn't working right...
