Green Diesel Eng upgrade

Hi All, i have recently purchased my 300c and the dreaded p1270 code has appeared.
As the car has a 3 month stat warranty the dealer is obliged to have it repaired to "perform its intended function" the problem is that the repaired is not up on the underlying issues that these engines have. So The dealer has asked me to help out and advise on how to repair. By the way We are all under agreeance that we stay away from the local stealer due to poor mechanical practices. I know that this code can be a simple fix (Resistor Type) our you can go the long way and replace the clips as advised by Chrysler and have the issue re occur.
My question is does the Green Diesel Engineering program address the problems from ever happening again and should you still attempt to remove the the swirl flaps a described so there no chance of detonating your engine later down the track.
The mechanic is swinging to the GDE system because he dosn't really want to disturb a strong engine with 107k on the odometer for an simple software fix.
I still have to have the dealer accept this sort of change as the are around $950.00 aus fitted and he still has to honour the 3mth warranty.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I take it that the GDE programme thingy is a remap? If so, I would be very surprised if it could address any problem caused by a failed swirl port motor. As I see it, you have two options, replace the swirl motor (with the risk that it will fail again) or just unplug the broken one and fit a resistor. The former will cost your dealer 100's, the latter just pennies.

Actually, you have three options as you could get the swirl motor replaced and then buy yourself a resistor to keep in the glovebox in case the new motor fails a few months down the road.

Swirl flap removal and resistor would be a total fix only thing that can go wrong is resistor(carry a spare lol). as car to be repaired under warranty go for it lol

Thanks Guys, The GDE People have advised that they remap the computer to make it more efficient and they delete the the EGR system from operatating. I was under the impression that the swirl port motor was a part of that system. To date I have found a lot of info from the Jeep forums in the States for the v6 crd but nothing relative to the 300c cars. The GDE website mentions that they also remap Mercedes and Vw tdi engines.

Quite a few of us on here are running remapped CRDs (with power outputs well in excess of the GDE offering) but, as far as I am aware, none of the various remaps available will delete the EGR system. GDE could be on to a winner... if it's true.

If you poke around this section of the forum you will find a lot of info relevant to the diesel 300C.

Welcome to the forum, by the way. Why do they call you Dodgey?

yes theres a few companies that will do an egr and dpf delete, but there about 475 IIRC

I know someone who's had it done on a C and they've made a right botch job of the pipework and botch up of the software....he's not happy now he's found out...
