I think I have bought a bad 300 the clunking is getting worse but can't fine the culprit.
I now have a strand whining noise when the car comes down the revs from high revs
Also my gear change seams a bit harsh in full auto it was OK when I got it 3 weeks ago now it seams bad

Can anyone help please

clunking....may be a front suspension component....however (cheaply!) theres also a possible clunk under the car relating to a superfluous exhaust retaining strut that lives under the car, level with the front seats...you can pack this with washers or remove it to stop the exhaust banging against it

the whining & harsh gear change may both be down to low transmission fluid.....theres an electrical plug on the bell housing which weeps in early models (a really cheap fix). Refilling the tranny to the correct level is rather an art)

Transmission Fluid Check
How Many Quarts of Tranny Fluid Should I Put In?

You need to take your car to someone who knows these cars and have them give it a proper inspection for you, there are some good guys on here. Then you can either do some or all of the work your self, I know that some of the tasks need the right kit, like the gearbox oil level etc.
