Hi all,
I have an oily residue at both front and back of the engine. All around the pressured alloy air pipe joint from the turbo outlet and at the resonator end. Also have it at the air intake at the turbo(orange seal) and its the next job on my list of many.
Going to have a go at some silicone sealant on the intake before I fork out £150+ for a new pipe ::crying:: but don't mind the less than a fiver for the alloy pipe seal where it joins the turbo outlet ::wink::
Question is the resonator end - is there any seal at that end where the pipe joins the resonator? And apparently you cant buy the seal 'in' the resonator itself-need a whole unit?
Any seals further on from the resonator that I need to tackle while I'm at it?
Left one;WOOK68020380AA £15.36 Lower charged air pipe, resonator end.
Middle one;WOOK05175626AA £5.26 Upper charged air pipe, turbo end.
Right one; WOOK05175743AA £13.50 Orange air intake seal on turbo.
Can't believe the alloy charged air pipe seals are no more than 'O' rings and are over £20 a pair!!
I would never have guessed that Chrysler would be so devious in selling punters a whole pipe, when all you needed was a gasket/o-ring, but that's what my local dealer tried to do.
This has been Very Helpful!
Cheers fern
I decided to pull the oil separator/breather off of the left hand cylinder head, whilst replacing the charged air pipe seals recently, and took it apart.
Well, i can confirm, there is a spring loaded diaphragm inside, and the diaphragm has split pretty much all around, so i guess this would be the cause of a lot of oil getting into the Air inlet pipe!! My engine has 85K miles on it.
FYI, the large orange seal is for the early plastic pipe, not the upgraded one( the later pipe has a black seal)
Not sure of the part number yet...
HTH
the new pipe has 4 cut outs to locate seal 2 oclock ,4 oclock,8oclock and 10 oclock the old pipe has them at 12,3,6,and 9 oclock the oil leaks out at the bottom 6 oclock
PS FYI, I did eventually order the seals by part numbers...My Jeep/Chrysler spares parts guy blamed the Parts system-said that when you search under your registration number, it Sometimes brings up a more limited search. he suggested asking for a Manual search on the parts system??.
