Whats the fuel tank capacity of the 300c ? - Mine was on red yesterday and after a fillup took approx 56 litres - expected it to take more ?. Also says approx 420 miles until next fill now - again expected more.

It's ~72 litres for the 5.7 300C, but I have a feeling yours is the same as the 2.7/3.5 300's here in North America which is 18 gallons. I'll see if I can dig that up.

Unfortunately the service manual doesn't seem to have the capacity for the CRD. All it says is:

V6 engine - 66L (18 gallons)
V8 engine - 72L (19 gallons)

hmm ok thanks anyhow. As the computer states an average of 35mpg and 430 miles to empty that works out at 12.3 gallons - maybe I am being thick ?

Not sure what the capacity is Pad (or the maximum "miles to empty" you could expect), but 18 US gallons is a touch under 15 imperial.
Did you stop filling on the first (or second) click of the pump? You can get quite a lot more in if you wait a few seconds between click and are patient with the fill.

66 litres equals 18 US gallons or, 14.5 Imperial gallons
(1 US pint = 16 fl oz - 1 Imp. pint = 20 fl oz).

Now, was the on board computer's software re-written with this difference in mind?

According to the brochure the CRD and Hemi have 71 L; the v6 has 68L.

My car said it had 8 or 9 pints left and it took 67.78 litres at the pump ....... the owner's book says it has a 72 litre tank. Or 19 US gallons. But the computer gives me 148 pints when full, and 19 gallons is 152 pints. Fine. The gauge probably can't spot the top and bottom of the tank. Perhaps there's a void in the top of the tank that can't be filled.
Parked on an incline recently my engine stopped with 4 or 5 pints showing. I also noticed that the contents changes going up and down hill.
