I have so many questions; maybe some one can point me in the right direction. I have been racking my brain to find out a solution to my problems, but it seems like everything I read is mostly about doing the opposite of my goal.
I have a stock 300c srt8 that I would like to modify the suspension to accomplish the following 3 things.
1. Raise and lower the car for winter and summer driving. 2. Soften the ride quality. 3. Decrease the amount of body roll.
I have been considering the following changes:
- Universal Air, KW2’s, and Hotchkis sways.
Here are some of my questions!
Am I going down the right road with these changes?
I read somewhere that when you have an air suspension that you have to get an alignment for the specific ride height or you risk uneven tire wear, is this true? Does this mean an alignment every spring and fall?
Will the KW2’s really “soften” the ride or are they really aimed at body roll?
Can anyone recommend a shop in the Chicago area to do the work?
I appreciate any help the forum can provide.
Thanks.
Typically its usually one or the other. Our air suspension kits are not designed for the "soft" type ride. Its designed for sports handling. Now, if you put our bags ontop of the KW's it will allow you to adjust the dampening on the shocks themselfs however if your looking for a "caddi boat type" ride it will not provide it.
Now don't get me wrong the car rides very good. But if your looking for softer our kit will not provide it for you.
Now, the best question of all... Are you sure that your looking for a softer ride or a more controlled ride? What size wheels/tires are you running? When you go over a raising dip in the road do you want the car to move more or less then it does right now?
What type of driving do you do? 30-40 mph on side streets or 60-80 on fwy? or even faster (thats why you purchased SRT8 right?) Reason why i am asking is because if you do more the cruse, you will not like having a "soft" suspension. The car will be bottoming out and leaning uncontrollably at the higher speeds because its too soft.

Thanks to Dumpster and Zach for your replies.
To answer the best question of all ... I guess I am looking for various types’ rides for different situations.
First, I do like the OEM ride of the SRT8 except it does have too much body roll in high speed cornering and significant amount of jarring if the road is rough at all which occurs for me both in city and highway driving.
Second, the OEM clearance height does looks great and is fine for most summer driving, but it is a problem when I am trying to get over the speed bumps. The ride height is way too low for winter driving when dealing with the snow and ice (Chicago clears only the side streets where the Alderman live and never the alleys). We got only 4 inches of snow last week and now it has turn to solid ice, hence I can barely get up and down the ally do to the clearances.
For the type of driver I am ... fast. I consider myself a Lead Foot Louie and my wife calls me Mario Andretti. All my friends say I drive way too fast and that I am a little crazy, except for my friend “BMW Ron” who is a fast driver too.
As for tires and wheels, in the summer I have the OEM Rims with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar Tires 245/45ZR20 Front and 255/45ZR20 Rear. For my winter tires, I had to get new rims, 18” Borbet 5-spoke wheels (so they would clear the brakes) which have a similar look to the original rims and are mounted with Bridgestone Blizzaks 235/60R18 DM-23 front and rear.
I am not sure what you mean by a raising dip, but when I am driving and I hit a single bump or a hole it’s not so bad. But if I come across a semi-rough road with lots of little bumps, this is what affects me the most because I get a continuous jarring up and down that bothers my neck. This will happen at both 30 mph or at 70mph, it will occur on the side streets and as well as on the highway. Above 80mph I am more worried about the fuzz.
So in a nutshell I would like to be able to raise the car up and down for clearance (from stock height to 3-4in higher rise) and to eliminate the jarring feel of the ride. Decreasing the roll is not as important as eliminating the jarring and I am not necessarily looking for the caddie-boat ride.
I appreciate anymore insight you or anyone else might have in this matter.

If you would like to lift it up higher we can do that, however it will not drop as low. As far as jarring.... i think that you will be happy with the bag setup because it sounds like to me that your bottoming out the suspension.
Zach, have you guys bagged an SRT8 yet? Because im about to bag my New Magnum SRT this upcoming Spring...
Sweeet!! Yes we have done quite a few of them. The SRT's are the exact same except the front shock's are the bilstien and will handle a little better. However for the rear, you will need to purchase a set of regluar shocks and remove the Navamats.
SICK.. thanks Zack, and btw DUBBY, it's GOING to be red...
and im going to the 300 SRT8 front clip... I love the bags, handles really good, and you can slam the shi*s out of it for the WOW factor!! My C is going to the wify..

You should find someone willing to trade the 300 srt8 front end for yours. I think the mag srt8 on a 300 would look great!!!! By the way, are you going with with tored or inferno red?
