Correct tire pressure with the TPM system

I have had my 2006 300C with the New TPM system at the dealer 3 times for a TPM system fault in my EVIC. They replaced all the parts in the system and checked the wiring and still the system was not working right. They must have called someone at the factory because they told me that the problem was that the tires had the worng tire pressure in them. Both the car sticker and the dealer computer called for 30psi in each tire and this was wrong. They said the correct tire pressure was 36psi. So far the TPM system is working right now with the 36psi tire pressure. Does anyone know if this is correct or is it just something the dealer came up with because they could not fine and fix the real problem with the TPM system?

Thanks,

Scout

I received the car last month with 30 lbs tire pressure on the monitor. I checked them with an Accutire digital gauge, when cold, and they all read 30 on the button. When I start up the car, they generally read either 29 or 30 on the display, and settle in at 30 quickly. Within a few minutes of driving, they're up at 32 and pretty much stabilize there. I haven't driven the car during a very hot day yet, but suspect that high speed and hot temps will generally settle in at 34 or so during travel.

Update, the TPM system worked only a day with new tire pressure of 36psi, but the car seems to pickup speed alot better with the new tire pressure. Now I guess I will have to take the car to another dealer and see if they can fix the problem.

30 psi is the correct pressure, I have heard nothing about raising it to 36 as any kind of fix. You can change the placard information in the TPM computer with the scan tool. Normally they are set for 30, which should turn the light on when they drop to 26psi.
