You MUST lower the car, otherwise do not bother; it looks ridiculous.

Lower it AT LEAST an inch!

Ok, with a 20" X 8.5" and 20" X 9" wheel, what offset would be ideal and not need spacers?

I too would like to see the answer to this question...

BTW, maybe this thread should be a STICKY, since it has the info about the original wheels that come with the car. Sure would make it easier to find it.

Is lowering necessary to get look with 22s for SRT as well?? I suppose .5 inch drop isn't enough.

Teahead,
I have to say I like your taste. You have done almost every mod on your black SRT-8 that I plan to do.
Do you have any larger pics of your ride?

Regarding the GS Motorsport wheels, that is a great link! I have been surfing the web for good forged wheels (for like 2-years; I'm a bit anal) and never ran across these.

Beautiful, many optional finishes, forged, staggered, good price.
From a good vendor. That Charger is gorgeous!

I have also been looking at DCR-Forged Wheels from a seller on eBay:

They have a number of other styles, too.
This guy is really a great person to deal with, and the prices for the wheels are pretty good too, although more than those at GS Motorsports.
True 3-piece forged wheels with any offset, to make sure everything fits.

Opinions on which ones would look best on a black SRT-8?

I may have to go with 22" (don't worry, Teahead, I will lower the car! :- )

...just kruzin'

I looked at those DCR wheels. The top model, with the evenly-spaced spokes, is truly handsome, I thought. The manufacturer has a web site at http://www.dcrwheels.com/ with photos of all models. I contacted the Ebay retailer about the wheel weight and received this:

The 22x9 wheels weigh approx 37lbs. The 20x9 weigh approx. 27 lbs.

I don't know about you, but that seems an amazing difference for a 2" greater diameter. Now, that weight is in longer spokes and a larger circumference rim, but holy cow, 10 pounds of unsprung weight! I think I'll be sticking with 20s.

The GS Motorsports wheels do not list a weight, but state "nearly the same weight as the factory 20’s". That could mean within a pound, within 5 pounds, or who knows - it's not a answer. They do have small spokes and I'd certainly like to find out what they weigh.

A whle back I contacted Kinesis about their 20" wheels (that is the largest they make, and it's really nice looking). They stated

"Our 20" three piece forged wheel (K1020) comes in a variety of widths between 7 and 12 inches. A 20x8.5" wheel could have a variety of weights depending on the brakes of the car and offset needed. To generalize each 20x8.5 would weigh approximately 23-24 lbs. The 20x10 would weigh about 25 lbs."

Food for thought.
