Poor quality TIS

My brother bought 22" TIS wheels for his 2005 Chevy Tahoe and when they arrived, one of them had a quarter sized bubble in the chrome and another had multiple imperfections in the chrome. He ended up sending them back for a refund. I know that there are alot of members that have the TIS brand of wheels and was wondering if anyone has had similar problems?

They are still American Racing!?!? I guess they were able to trick everyone into buying them again, when they linked up with DUB and the launch of the latest LX cars Does anyone else remember the crap they were pushing out in the 90's?? TIS have some nice styles and big lips, but the rims are junk, from China, but "manufactured" by American Racing.

Just about every wheel is being made in China these days, with the a few exceptions namely Boss, American Eagle, and a few others. American Racing did a great marketing job in getting everyone to buy these wheels. Unfortunately TIS like alot of the other manufacturers have some major chrome problems. Trying to get them replaced after 6 months goes by is like pulling teeth too.

Are the american made wheels higher quality? What are some brands that have a good reputation for quality?

As with any product there is good & bad, and I'm sure not all TIS wheels have problems. We've just seen a number of wheels produced in China that have chrome issues. I have found that Diablo wheels have a really nice chrome finish and their Black center wheels are really well done. They don't have alot to offer for the LX platform, but as a whole they are a pretty nice quality wheel. We haven't had any issues to date with American made wheels either.

I've had my rims for a while now and have had any problems or issues. A while back TIS had a problem with a defective shipment of rims. A lot of EBAY sellers and bad vendors purchased/kept them and sold them to the public....maybe your brother has a set of those rims. He might want to contact TIS directly or perhaps take them back to the shop he purchased them from.

IF ANYONE PURCHASES A SET OF RIMS AND HAVE PITTING OR OTHER ISSUES AFTER 2 MONTHS--TAKE THEM BACK!!!! I HAVE YET TO SEE A TIRE SHOP NOT WILLING TO TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMER INSIDE OF 6 MONTH WITH CHROME WHEEL ISSUES.

If you purchased your tires from a private seller, call it a loss. I had a set of rims from TSW and had issues afer a year and they still took care of me because they stood behind their product and their finish.

Goodluck

Will do so after the New Year. Thank you for info. This particular set of 20's are total junk. My other pair of TIS 20's have been hanging great for over 2 1/2 years. Go figure.
