I'm sorry guys, but I'm going to try to fit 24's on my SRT8. If that makes me "ghetto", then I guess I'm ghetto. I don't mind being a ghetto superstar at all. In the end, it comes down to 2 things:
1. If I decide to track my car, I'll just switch back to stock before heading to the track. This way, it keeps me from having the urge to mash on the gas when I'm feeling a little crazy on the streets (and you're a damn liar if you're telling me you have never done this before). I know it will save lives and keep insurance premiums down.
2. It's my car, no matter what others think about it, I'm the owner and just like the options that came with the car, you can choose what you want and what you don't want. I choose 24's .

Now stop acting like you're a freakin' racer and put them 22's and 24's on!!!

Quite the varied responses on this topic. I am glad I tuned in.
Since the stock SRT-8 wheels are 20", I have a hard time "upgrading" to 20" aftermarket rims. I ran 275/30-19's on my last car (BMW 5-Series) and the handling was great- transient response was like NOW, and the ride was acceptable... to me. I was always apologizing for the ride to passengers.
It is a big step from 19" to 22", but the aspect ratio is the same, so I would think the "harshness" would be similar. However, the weight has got to be a bunch more with 22" rims.
So forged wheels...
I have been talking with a supplier on eBay who deals in CDR-Forged wheels (this guy is really great, and the prices are really attractive, as compared to HRE or Asanti, etc.), and there are really some great styles available.

The prices for these run ~$3600 for 20" and $3900 for 22" set. Any width combinations - same price. They will even paint the centers custom for you.
You can find this seller on eBay: search for extremeluxuries
(No, I am NOT associated with this vendor)

Anyway, to get to my question:
I was thinking about going with 20" in front and 22" in back. Every rim I've bent has been in the front, and the staggered setup might be a good compromise to the points voiced in this discussion.
However, I am concerned about the handling characteristics of having such a wide difference in aspect ratio between front and rear; sloppy nose & a twitchy rear? I guess I could choose a taller rear tire (and deal with the speedo error) but I would rather not.
Anyone out there have experience with doing this?
I am a pretty aggressive driver, so failing the 20"/22" setup, I will probably go with 20".
Forged.
Staggered.
Lowered.

Sorry, but 20/22 would look absolutely stupid.

You'll have a short wheel with a thick 40 or 45-series tire on the front, and a tall wheel w/a low profile tire in the back.

Good gawd!

(laughing) well.. I wouldn't want to look absolutely stupid.
Thanks for your candid response Teahead.
Actually, after thinking about it, the diameter difference of 2" is a bit more than so many other "staggered" setups I've seen, so the aspect ratio difference would be too great if the same tire diameter was used. I could go with ~245/40-20 in front and ~265/35-22 in back. That would keep the speedo correct.

But, I still have to concede that 20" front and 22" rear is quite a big step.

I guess I am trying to avoid making a choice of the look of the 22" and the handling of the 20" rims.

Form follows function.. it'll be the 20".
