new tire question for 300C

It's time to replace these awful Conti's. Rather than stay with the limited choices for 225/60/18's, what are some other size options that work on the 300C?
I'd like to go a bit wider. What are some good choices both in size and tire? Did a search, but no clear answers.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I just replaced my Contis with 255/55/18 Nitto NT 420S tires and the new tires kick the slick out the stock rubber. Example, today while driving back from Toronto on the infamous 401 I got my C up to 120 on an empty patch of road. Now I know alot of guys here get their rides up to those speeds every now and then but not me. The stock tires felt too shaky at 100 to me so I wouldn't push them. The Nittos on the other hand felt rock solid at 120!! I only wish I'd gotten rid of those duds a long time ago.

so is it safe to assume that there are no issues with fitment and/or rubbing?

Nice tires! I especially like the way they act as curb guards instead of scraping the wheel itself (like when my wife drives Maxie - which is why she doesn't get to!).

How's the clearance under the that bolt in the front wheelwells?

No problems thus far. I researched the wider tire scenario for weeks before purchase and I think we're safe. I'm certain one of our members runs their C on the autocross circuit with this size with no problems. As far as the suspension bolt clearance check the photos.....

Also LWood stated he's been running his 255/55/18 for 25,000 miles with no problems at all.

Quick update, I had some 255/55/18 Toyo Proxes S/T's installed today. I've only driven about 20 miles, almost all freeway, so I don't have any clear idea of ride difference yet. But, they sure look better!!!
Thanks for everyone's input.

Im also about to change mine, but only the rears cause I had a little to much fun.
Do you reccommend the Nittos, or the Toyos, and whats the price per tire?
