Daily Driving with 22 inch tires.

It appears to me that most of the folks with 22inch rims/tires use their cars for mostly show and not as a daily driver. Am I wrong in assuming this. I love the looks, however my daily driver is my 300C period. hat happens if you get a flat tire on the freeway etc.

I have a 300CSRT. I have 22" but my SRT is not a daily driver. I will say that if I did use my SRT as a daily. I would have stayed with the OEM 20" wheels and tires set up. I know some members on here drive daily with there 22". Others for show. There are even a few members on here that have gone with 24" wheels.

I have the 2006 SRT8 and I use it as a daily driver, I have had it 2 1/2 months and have put 11000k on it, I put about 5000k or 3500 miles per month and will until it expires. Love the car and fuel mileage is great!

Properly fitted 22's that are light in weight... You should have no problem....

In order to do it right you will need to drop some money.

My suggestion is get some KW Variant1 coil-overs to drop your ride height a little. With these you will avoid excessive fender gap, and make up for the differences in ride/ handling characteristics. The coil-overs from Mopar that you can have installed at you Chrysler dealer are essentially the same units..

GSM has a 22” package that may be pricey, but they have done the home work to provide wheels that are within stock weight parameters, and proper fit to avoid excessive wear on suspension components, and fender rubbing.

Check out freakshait’s ride he has the GSM setup……….

I see plenty of customers with 22s on daily drivers, and even had one with 24s the other day. Fromt the short drives Ive had in a bunch of different 300s, the 22s & up ride rather rough, the 20s dont seem to lose much from the stock ride.

Do you have 22" on your 300c?

Because I do and I drive it everyday. The ride is just as good as the stock 18".

I dont own a 300, I am a Chrysler Tech and drive at least a half dozen different 300s everyday. Mostly with the stock 18s, but we get quite a few with 20s & 22s and even a couple with 24s. I notice a little difference with 20s, but not much. 22s seem a bit harsh in my opinion, YMMV.

For what it's worth, I went from stock to 22's - and a week later, moved back to 20's - happy ever since.

Quick story - went to my local tire dealer to replace the stock Conti's on my C, and also wanted to move up to a 20" wheel. They wanted to move a set of 22's (Hot Wheels City Star and Nitto 420S's). I got caught up in the hype/deal and next thing you know, they were on the car..... absolutely loved the look.

Left the shop with lots of thumbs up. However, within 15 minutes, I think I knew this wasn't for me. The ride (IMO) suffered, vibrated at 65 MPH and you could feel every single bump, rock and imperfection in the road.

So for a week, I was torn over keeping the killer look or "downgrading" to 20's and a better ride. Trolled all the threads looking for the answer.... lot's of great members postings - but it comes down to a personal choice. So for me, I decided to move back to the 20's. While the dealer was none to happy to make the trade (I've done alot of business with these guys) they agreed and hooked me up with the same set up on the 20's.

What I lost in "the look" I more than gained back in ride/comfort - and to me, that was a fair trade off. I can not discern a ride quality difference between stock and 20's - but could feel a huge difference between the 22's and 20's.

For those that image is everything - go for the 22's but be prepared to either have a rough(er) ride or invest in the suspension mods BigC spoke of. It's a killer look. For a week, I couldn't go anywhere without heads turning to check out my ride. However, if you enjoy cruising, a smooth(er) ride and just want to upgrade the stock wheels - go no bigger than 20's.

BTW, love the Nittos (255/45/20) and the Hot Wheels City Star wheels.

My two cents... and hope this helps someone. Thanks to all the others that have contributed so much great information to this board.
