Michelin tires for 300C

I have never been so perplexed when purchasing tires.

After reading threads on this forum and many hours of research (man, I've never done that before), I have tentatively picked a Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus 255/55 x 18; these will be mounted on oem 300C wheels.

Any comments on this selection?

Minor bug : paying M.R.S.P.

By your join date I would guess that you are replacing some worn out Conti's? If you were happy with them you will probably be happy with the MXV4...they appear to be a middle of the road choice. If you want to step up a little but stay in the Grand Touring All Season you might look at the Bridgestone Turanza LS. It comes in H, V and Z speed ratings and has very high marks at the Tire Rack. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=GTAS. I know what you mean about having a tough time choosing but I think you might have an easier time of it than some of the more recent C owners as you have driven yours enough to know what kind of driving you will be doing. Good luck with your choice.

I don't think these are available in a large enough size. Bridgestone's website lists the largest diameter at 17".

Frank,

You might want to look into the Goodyear Comfortreads. I replaced the Conti's on my 300C AWD and have had no problems, these tires are also good on the standard 300C RWD. Since it looks like you're keeping the stock rims, I highly recommend these tires. The ride is smooth and you don't feel any bumps in the road like you would with the Conti's. I hope this helps.

Frank, you can thank DC for selecting a truck size tire for this car. I have the MXV4 on the 9-5 and the S430 and have had them on several Euro cars in the past. It is a good bread and butter tire for Michelin, a good all around performer but nothing special and less than spectacular in the snow and way overpriced. You know my thoughts on the GY CT, it would be interesting to see how the MXV4 performs on the C, they seem to do well on my 2000 S430 but that car has a far more developed suspension than the C. If the MXV4 were the same money as the CT I might have gone for them and not gamble on an unknown tire. It was a good gamble as I am thrilled with them. If you were in snow country I would say go with the GY CT which is highly rated in snow, in Hotlanta, the MXV4 might be a great choice.

My bad! I only looked at the comparison not the spec. and your right, you would have to go with aftermarket 17" rims to use these tires. Nice tire...nice car...bad match.
