Tire width? How wide can I go?

I'm sure this question has been brought up before, if so maybe someone can direct me to the thread. In case it hasn't my question is - How wide can I go on a 2006 SRT8 with 20" wheels? I have the stock wheels and tires on now so I know the factory size difference from front to back. I'm shopping for new wheels and tires and want to stuff the widest I can without rubbing. I'm doing exhaust, CAI, Tuner chip, Grille, trim, floor mats. I just want to get the wheels and tires so all this can be done at one time. I don't like works in progress. Thanks

go to the tire manufacturers website and they will tell you the widest tire you can put on what width of wheel.

I have 22's with 265/35ZR22 tires. No rub problems at all, and they come right to the outside lip of the fender well. I was told by several tire places that you couldn't get an after market 20" wheel that would fit the SRT's due to the Brembo calipers being too large for clearance. I had to go to 22"s, and I love the looks of the 22's.

I've heard alot of handling problems w/ 22" wheels. May have to widen the stock rims.

I remember a post about someone running 275-40-20 on the stock rims. You would need to widen the rim to run anything larger.

depends

I have ran a 20 x 10.5 with a 295/40 and for daily driving it's fine, yet if lowered alot, more than a 1 1/2 and hard cornering it rubs on the frame on passenger side, yet normal driving, it's fine, yet some of the plastic inner liner has to be trimmed. There are others who have tried to fit 315 on 22's yet i'm not sure. My wheels will probably be for sale.
