Need new - going stock size

Hello everyone,

I have thouroughly perused the tire forum for some assistance on a tire purchase but you know how you can get confused sometimes with too much info.

I will stay with stock size 225-60R18. No more Conti's!! I did get 29,100 out of them and now have wear bars telling me it's time.

I live in Florida (no snow thank goodness). I'm not a speed demon or racer but I do a fair bit of Interstate driving (above the limit). I want a quiet tread, a comfortable tire that resists hydro planing (we do get a lot of rain sometimes) and one that does not cost an arm and a leg.

From the many posts I have read it seems the general consensus is the Goodyear Comfort Treds. Did GY ever come out with the 18" Assurance Triple Tred?

Would there be any other final suggestions?

Thanks for the help and advise.

P.S. The last time I went to my dealer for service, I asked the tech advisor why the crappy tread wear on the tires. He told me that DC engineers, in an attempt to close the turning radius of the car, had the tires not only turn but tilt out (camber or caster or whatever) and that makes the front tires wear unevenly on the inside and outside - hence the premature tire wear out. He said that best solution was to swap tires front to back every 3,000 miles for more even wear. Park your 300C with the wheels turned to full stop and see how much those fronts lean out.

P.S.S. I purchased my 2005 Jade Mist 300C on April 14, 2004 a few days after the cars debut - and I still love it. Best car I ever had - except for the tires. (and I have had over 40 cars in my 40 years of driving)

My car actually came with the Assurance on them. I test drove one with the Conti's on and like these better. Pretty quiet and handle better than you would expect for what is considered a "high mileage touring tire".

As far as what the dealer told you, that is nothing special, just about all cars have camber that changes when you crank the wheels lock to lock. The worst example I can think of, is those old Bronco II.
