300c wheel corrosion issues

Well, my wheels are showing signs of corrosion. My local dealer has been rather cooperative and tried to have them refinished. However, the refinishers said that they could not do this on my wheels. Thus, I'm going to end up getting all new wheels. However, my question is what is the chance that the corrosion will start up again? I'm going to be really annoyed if it does start up again. Can some people with stock replacements please report in.

I also thought about trying to talk the dealer into giving me Magnum R/T: 18-inch polished aluminum wheels instead since they shouldn't corrode b/c they aren't chrome plated. Does anyone know if they will work fine on a 300c. Plus, are there any weight differences or other things to take into account.

I originally thought about trying to talk the dealer into SRT rims, but I don't think that that will fly even if I offer to pay extra b/c the dealer probably will not want to deal with the brake and weight difference issues.

Haven't had any issues with our '06 Heritage Edition in the 6 months and 10k miles driven. Our used '05 C had corrosion when we bought it (at 14.5k miles), but we didn't take note until after the H.E. was here. Dealer verified the corrosion and replaced the rims. Mileage then was about 23k miles. Hasn't been a problem with the replacements since and car is just over 27k miles now. If you keep your wheels/rims clean, and dressed I'm guessing corrosion pitting should not reoccur, but I take it that isn't what you're experiencing.

I got mine replaced with a brand new set by the dealer around a year ago and no problems yet.

Mine have some on them but not all the wheels my dealer said when they all have it then he will replace them. I only have 12000 miles on the car and it is kept in the garage I've had it sense 9/02/04 . I still have one more year before the 36 mouths are up.

I had my '05 since November of '04 and never saw any corrosion. I live in Kansas City and our streets regularly have salt on them during the winter months. Was the corrosion on the plastic chrome wheel covers or the aluminum rims themselves?

My dad had all four of his replaced last year and the new ones look just as good as they did a year ago. They didn't hesitate to do it either....very pleased with DCX helping out my dad!

I'm running a set of them on my Ford 'Ranger XLT' with the OEM Conti self-sealers from '05...yes, I know I said Ford. The wheels have no corrosion whatsoever, as we only have desert sand on the roads here - Spring thru Winter, and about the only salt we ever experience is over in the Salton Sea. It's probably the only vehicle where the OEM Chrysler Continental Conti-Touring self-sealers handle very well. Those 18" OEM '300C' tires/wheels give that truck that 4x4 look, as it certainly raised the ride height considerably from the Ford OEM 14" tires/wheels...with experiencing absolutely no fitment issues at all.

The corrosion is the same as several other posters have experienced. It is on the lip of the rims. It starts off looking like an odd milky stain. It is under the coating and in some places has actually started to work its way up through the coating. In other words, it is from the inside out, not the outside in. My 300c is 2004 model with about 20,700 miles on it. I take very good care of it. I only hand wash it and don't use any of those harsh wheel cleaners. I only use quality car soap and water. Plus, I always wash any winter salt off promptly (usually when I bring the car home for the night).

Hmm, it seems that the replacements that people have gotten have not started to corrode again. However, I wonder why not. What could they have possible changed to prevent this? It seems too good to be true that they won't start corroding again like the rims that are already on my car. However, I certainly hope that they do not start corroding again.
