Winter tires : Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6 - on OEM 300C 18's

I am in a rush rush decision to buy winter tires, and these tires seem to be a good fit (235/55/18).. I have owned almost 6 sets of winters on my past cars, but this one i never heard of.

Apparently these are a good match for 300C/SRT8's as the tire vendor told me, and they are relatively cheap.

What do you guys think? I thought about going with 17's but the thing is, i am thinking of upgrading to 22's next year, so using my OEM's as winters makes a lot of sense.

Are you looking just for Winter Tires?? Personally I'd recommend the Goodyear Assurance Tire. Great all season tire, with the quietest ride, and a great warranty. I have them on my 300C and couldn't be happier.

Strictly winter tires only, thats what i use on all my cars. Assurances seem like an excellent tire btw.. but i still feel uneasy about canadian winters and all seasons.

PErsonally i have owned the following:
Nokian Hakka 1
Michelin Arctic Alpins <== GARBAGE, returned them within 15 days
Pirelli Wintersport 210's
Blizzak WS50's
Some other no name tires

My favourites are the 210s, but i want to try different tires!

Not sure about sizes you would consider or what you think is a good price, but htese have very good reviews at TireRack.

winter tires..hmm

I've heard nothing but good things about the Blizzaks. In fact I'll be putting my BBC in storage during the winter but plan on adding a set of Blizzaks to my Mustang for the winter. Coworker of mine has a Mustang, rear wheel drive of course, and had no problems with the North Dakota harsh winter last year. Goodluck either way you go!

I had the original Blizzaks in the early 90s on my 300E, they are spectacular. Over on the MB forum at least one was disappointed with the Michelin Arctic Alpin. The Dunlop seems like a good design as does the Yoko Guardex.

Since idiot Chrysler saw fit to put a truck sixed tire on the C, your options are limited if you stay with the stock size. I would give the Dunlop a try, I would be in the same boat this Winter in Ohio were it not for the Saab I picked up in the Spring. I would say the C has been great on Contis and GY Comforts the past two Winters, but compared to Canada our winters are fairly mild.

About a month ago put GY Assurance tires on my "C". Now have about 2000 miles on them; they are so much better than the Contis. The Contis were ok in snow when new, but as they wore, the snow traction got worse until they just were bad on snow the second winter. Big test this winter with the GY tires.

Since I have 20" rims and summer tires, I used the oem rims and had Toyo G02 Plus snow tires put on (225/60/18) for $235/tire installed.
They are incredible in the snow!
