Valet curbed a wheel... HELP!!!

Hi all,

I went to my grandmother's 90th birthday party today. Valet was the only option. I don't even let my wife drive my car ('06 Magnum SRT8) -- so letting someone drive the car was a huge deal (the wife said there was nothing to worry about). Got home tonight and did my nightly brake dust cleaning... and the right rear rim (stock) has rash about 3/4 of the way around the edge.

I either need a tip on where to go in Los Angeles to have the rim repaired (I only want THE BEST place to go), or I need to find a new rim. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Aaron

First of all, welcome to the 300c Forums!

Sorry to hear about your damaged rim...exactly why I don't let anyone valet my car. Not too sure how I would handle valet being the only option, though.
If your SRT rim is chromed, that could probably be doable regarding a repair.

You mentioned having to remove your daily brake dust. You can put an end to this problem forever by reading this most helpful thread. Also note that scored rotors are also being replaced with slotted rotors under a TSB for the SRTs.

Good luck and here is the brake dust thread:

This is exactly why I wil NEVER let my cars be valet'd. My actually laughs when I drop her off and the guy tries to take my car. Usually after a firm 2-3 no's, they let me park it in their lot or tell me where to take it.

Thanks for the tips guys. I looked at the car again this morning. They also drove it into another car (or drove another car into it?). The front bumper is all scuffed and has two big scratches that go all the way through the paint. I know they did it because I washed the car before we left for the party and it didn't have a flaw.

I'm the guy who makes his wife walk from the far end of every parking lot -- just so I can assure there are no dings when I come out of wherever we are. Handing the keys to the valet was painful to do... and my first new car in ten years isn't perfect any more. I'm still waiting for the owner to call me... but they'll just say I should have inspected the car (In the dark?!!!)

I have an appointment with my body shop. I'm going to replace the wheel, repaint the bumper (and replace the scratched chrome strips), and move on from this lesson. I'll check out Pico wheel to refinish the wheel as a backup... they are about 10 minutes from me. At least I'll have a full sized spare.

NEVER EVER LET A VALET TOUCH YOUR CAR!!!

My wife too knows we have to walk from the furthest corner of the lot to prevent dings. She enjoys the exercuse since she is a health person. There are times I will even park a block away or so from where I am going to protect my car. Two weks ago we were invited to a black tie wedding at a country club with valet only service. I made a call to the management telling them I would not use their valet service because of prior problems with valet services and they told me when I drop off my wife their valet will show me where I can self park. I had no problems when I arrived. In a couple months my car will be 2 years old and the car's finish still looks great.
