Gang,
Well I just got home from my Dealer. They changed out my old OEM wheels for brand new in the box OEM wheels with no BS what so ever. Mounted - balanced the whole works. Its nice that every once in awhile the dealer and OEM does the correct thing by their customers.

I have a question? The wheels are chrome clad aluminum wheels; but you say that it is a plastic chrome cladding? What sense does that make?
I don't even have my "C" yet, and I'm really not very happy about that. How do you get pitting and corrosion on plastic?

The wheels are a light aluminum alloy, with a clearcoat. The Chrome part is a plastic cladding on the spokes with a "chromed" finish. They look good and the chrome part is easy to keep clean.

The problem is that the cladding chafes against the aluminum rubbing off the clear coat. When salt hits the exposed aluminum, corrosion occurs on the aluminum. The plastic part is still fine.

I took a picture of one of my wheels and sent it to the dealer. I hope I get a new wheel. The car only has 1500 miles on it!

I wouldn't worry about... They (the dealer) will change it. These forums give ut a lot of amo to clain a design defect The wheels are defective by design... When my car was new I noticed the wheels made a squeeking noise as they rotated. At that time I didn't think anything of it. The reality was that the chrome cover was rubbing the clearcoat off of the aluminum rim. Anyone else notice the rotational squeeking? I plan to get mine changed at the next oil change when I plan to convert to Mobil 1 5W-20.

Quote from the Magnum Forum:

FINALLY got an answer from the Chrysler Factory Rep. We will be getting new replacement wheels for our 300C. The service guy said Chrysler would replace them only ONCE. THEY DIDN'T SAY THAT WHEN WE WERE BUYING THE CAR!!!! I thought they would replace defective parts till it is right! The Factory Rep said they would take a look if the pitting happened the second time. He tried to blame it on rubbing the curb, etc. I said, but it was all 4 wheels! I said they should make a wheel that doesn't do that! Take your pitted wheels to your dealer and demand replacements!!!
