BF Goodrich G-Force 245/50/18

Just a note, to let You guy's know, that my upgrade to the BF Goodrich did not work out. They were G-Force 245/55/18. Looked good and the first balance lasted only about 300 miles. Had to use 4 1/2 OZ. of weight on one wheel. Then the next 3 balances did not last 50 miles each time. The Sears store that I purchased them from did not have a load balancer, and that may have been part of the problem. From what I suspect now, make sure that your tires are load balanced, to get rid of the shake in the steering wheel. Please chime in if you have any knowledge of load balancing. I will try out the tire that is coming on the AWD 300C. It's a Mich. 235/50/18, I think. Anyway's I want to make sure that everyone knows I made another modification mistake. Also, BF Goodrich would have worked out the problems, but I did not have time to work with them. I had super grip and feel with the G-Force. I did not try to power brake them to check the traction. Traction on wet pavement was great.................... Dixie

I'm sorry it didn't work out with the G-Force. They were in the lead for replacement tires. Thet are supposed to have good life, traction and noise/ride characteristics. Did your weights fall off to cause the out of balance, or did the mass on the tires physically shift? I guess I don't understand. I hope it is not inherent to changing tires on the OEM wheels.

My old 300E would never maintain balance and I learned to live with a minor shimmy until I discovered on the car balancing (??same as load balance??) and never balanced them again for the life of the tires. Only a handful of shops do it, it balances the wheel, tire, rotor, bearings and any other rotating parts.

Hello LWOOD, No, it was not loosing wheel weights. With the reg. spin bal. All the tires would be about an oz out of balance within 50 miles. That unbalance and the stiffer sidewalls made for a very rough ride. The shake in the steering wheel rough.

II Kings, You are right. From what I understand, The machine puts a load of about 1500 lbs on the tire. That gives, on the car conditions, to the tire. I don't have any real knowledge. Just by what others have told me. Some say that is the only way to balance these tires. I even have a slight unbalance on the orig. tires that they put back on. I watched them balance, each time, and they would balance them to 0.

I believe that things are getting a little to complicated for us old guys (speaking of me). IT's bad when the largest tire sales company (Sears) dosn't have the proper equipment, to balance tires anymore. That's not ment to slam Sears. There effort was A+. Also they will match the Net prices.

Dixie same tires, i went to the meet with tommyz and met some nice cool guys there, I had the same issue ask tommy if u want, I went to the local pepboys like he told i got rid of them that night. THANKS TOMMYZ, i was launching 120+ sweet tires. Please dont miss them go to a pepboys or local discount store and make sure u tip them nice they will get a perfect balance.

I've had the BFG gForce KDWS tires on my 300C for about 3,000 miles and had no problems with vibration or shimmy. You probably just got a bad set.

Thanks Dave, I'm sure that Bf Goodrich would have worked out my problem. I was just going around in circles, home, back to get them balanced, and back home again. When Sears offered to take them back and remount my orig. tires I couldn't have been happier. I never thought that I could be happy with the Conti's on the car. They only have 5500 miles on them. They don't stick like the G-force tires, but at least "the shake is gone". Sounds like the title of a new song, for old folks. Dixie
