I have them on my 300 C SRT 8. I replaced my bfg Suprecar F1's. I was hoping they would be a good all season tire with good light snow performance. They did not preform well on snow or ice. They do ride very well compared the F1's. They also seem to be wearing well, I have about 5,000 miles on them. They don't have near the grip that the F1's had, but I expected that. I don't think I would buy them if I had it to do over.

I think some of you guys need to understand that we drive a 425hp RWD car that is not, and will never be good in snow and ice.... Now matter what tires, chains, or tank tracks you put on. The car will still be all over the place.

I run the AT 550 20" on my RX300 beater. I drove it all winter with several trips to upstate NY, VT, and Canada. They are certainly not the best snow tire. However they did their job. Believe me I drive in the winter...When everybody is home scarred of the snow, I am out on the road driving, having fun. I remember driving on the NYS thruway in a storm a few weeks ago, still maintaining 60-65mph without any trouble or slipping....For an all season I could not be more happy with the quality of them. I have about 15k on them and they ride very smooth and very quiet. My only complaint....When the truck sat for a week or more time, I noticed some flat spots for the first few miles of driving, shortly after the problem corrected itself. Great tires, would highly recommend them!

Avon Tech 550 Tyres

05SilverC,

I have ran AT 550s for over a year now. I can't speak for how the tires handle on the snow and ice because I put the stockers back on during the winter months. We get a little snow and ice here in Oklahoma. I rolling 265/35/22 on TIS 07 wheels. I have no complaints with the tires. They work fine for me in the rain with very low road noise on the highway. I would vote for the AVON TECH 550s. I would purchase the tyres again.

Sorry to disagree. I too have driven in snow extensively. It's great to play in. I have only been stuck once. I really don't think hp has any thing to do with the handling of the car. It's all about tires and weight. You don't have to use the hp. One of the beat handling cars I ever had in the snow was a 400 hp 442 with snow tires and 200 lbs of salt in the trunk. I never once stayed home due to snow, never once got stuck, and it was a 4 speed.

I've had Avon 550 for several months now and I'm very satisfied. The car launches good, with not too much tire spin. The tires have performed very well in the heavy rain conditions on the highway at relatively high speeds (100 mph). I’ll have to wait and see how they wear. As for the other member’s comments on Avon 550 performance in snow conditions – this is a summer tire and I would never use it in low temperature and snow conditions. Since you have 300c you have stock 18’’ rims so you should opt for real winter tires in 225/60/18 (I have Pirelli Sottozero and I like them very much).
