installed 22 tis 03s yesterday

a little too early, supposed to get a foot of snow tonight. oh well guess it will have to stay parked. 1st impression, i love the looks but i have a slight shimmy in the wheel and in the seat. am going to ride it out a couple days and have them re-balanced. i got the exact wheel size that TIS recommended (22x9.5 18mm offset 5x115 bolt pattern). my tires are dunlop sport maxx 265/35/22 and the tires just touch the inner wheel well on full turn in reverse (i think its touching a couple plastic rivets) I will check to see where it is rubbing exactly once it starts to rub a wear mark, can't quite tell right now. other than that, ridin' high, my wife ninja'd the car tonight to go cruise the strip while I stayed home with the kids (we're both too old to be doing that!).
can anyone say honestly that they have no shakes or shimmys with 22's or am i just being picky?

I have a slight shimmy over 60MPH. I've always had that with any aftermarket wheels and I've had 5 sets on four different cars so far. On the 300, did you take off the clips over the lug bolts??? I didn't, but I've heard you're supposed to take them off before you put on the new rims. I don't remember seeing them when I put on my wheels though. There's a pic on the forums somewhere, they're gold, look like washers almost, and they were on two of the 5 lugs in the pic. If you find a solution, let me know. Mine are high speed balanced just about 6 weeks ago when I bought them and they were shaky even then, but only over 60MPH.

I have no shakes or shimmy at any speed. You might want to have the tires re-balanced.

Good find on the pic phillips. My Pro-Kit should be here early next week so when I put them on, I'm gonna check on the Tinnerman clips. If that's not it, when I get an alignment in about a month I'm gonna have the tires balanced too.

Got my 22's a few weeks ago, I also have a slight shimmy over 60mph. But thats not the worst problem, the wheels I bought have pits in them. The stupid company in Cali said they would replace them, but I have take the tires off and pay for shipping both ways. What kind of crap is that? I'm really pissed to say the least.

I had my 22s mounted on Monday. Drove for about 150 miles that night highway driving mostly at all different speeds. I thought I was wobble free. Tuesday I noticed VERY SLIGHT vibration in the steering wheel around 60-65. Not enough that my wife noticed but enough that I noticed. I saw the post about the tinnerman clips and I already knew about road force balancing. SOOOO...I took the car to Discount Tire yesterday and had them remove the clips and RF balance.

Initial driving last night resulted in NO wobble. When I get my car out of the shop today, I'll drive for another 100 miles or so just to double check. $128 for the RF balance but having no wobble is worth the $$$ to me. Oh, and I asked the tech if the RF balance revealed anything crazy. He said 3 of the 4 were spot on (good) but the front right was waaaay out of balance (so for me, just removing the clips wouldn't have been the end all solution).

My only question is - when I rotate my tires, will I have to have them RF balanced again?

I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm gonna be doing the same thing then. As far as rotating and balancing, I don't think you would need to. But if they were all balanced to begin with and your front right went out of balance from being driven on the car, then it would need to be balanced again. But it might have not been balanced properly to begin with. It's hard to say. Maybe you can get a balance check when you rotate them and hopefully everything will be okay.

The shop that installed them balanced them when they put on the tires. They just did a regular balance as opposed to the Road Force balance. I'll admit I don't know the particular differences between the two balancing methods. I just know that they had been balanced the regular way two days prior and after reading on the forums for quite a while, the best way to get rid of the wobble was to RF balance.

For mine, they put them on the machine, sping 'em around, made some markings, broke down the tire/wheel, spun the tire on the wheel so that it lined up w/ the markings, put the tire back on the wheel, re-spun it, added/removed weights, repeat, repeat, repeat. Took 'em about 2 hours from start to finish.
