Awd Rims 22x8.5 Or 22x9.5, Offset, Computer, Tire Questions

I'm going to buy some 22s for my AWD and I'm trying to make as informed of a decision as possible, so I don't mess up my car. Everybody says that in order to put 22s on an AWD you need 9.5 inch width with a 30-40 offset. The rims that I'm interested in are 8.5 inches wide with a 15 offset. So my question is, won't these rims fit the same as 22x9.5 with a 30-40 offset. Am I right since the 22x8.5 is one inch narrower but has one inch less of offset (25mm is equal to one inch)?

Second question. Does anyone who has 22s on their 300c have any problems with the car's computer systems or mechanicals?

Third question. If I go with a 265/35/22 tire about how many inches of rubber show?

Alright, I'm done. No more questions. Thanks in advance to anyone who has answers to any of these.

td300C,

You're going to need a high offset regardless if you go with the 22x8.5 or 22x9.5. If I'm not mistaken the 15 offset if for the RWD 300C. I also have the AWD 300C so I know where you're coming from. There are several choices to pick from for 22" but not as many as the RWD.

Depending on the Wheels Shop you're going to need new tire sensors. As far as the computer is concerned, I'm not sure if anything need to be done.

If you're going with 265/35/22 Series tires my guess and this is just a guess there's probably about 2-3 inches of rubber showing. I could be wrong.

On the AWD I wouldnt go below a +38 offset. The +15 offset you found is for the RWD and wont fit right, your wheels will be sticking out past the fenders and rubbing bad. The biggest width you could possibly go with on an AWD is 9.5 and that is assuming you have the right offset. And on an 8.5" wide wheel, I would go with a 255-35 or 255-30 series tire, the the 265 is too big for 8.5, but if you go 9 or 9.5" then go with the 265.

If you went by the 22x9.5 with a 35 offset as a base for information. When you add on a 22x8.5 with 15 offset your rim will move out 7mm. Not much of a difference, but then again I don't have any experience with AWD. I don't know if that's a huge difference. If it isn't, then just some fender rolling and your done. I would also go with the 255/30 or 255/35.
