New Goodyear RSA tire

A month or so ago, someone posted that Goodyear was planning on introducing an improved RSA tire for our cars in a few weeks. However there has been nothing posted about this that I can remember.

I need new tires for my SRT-8 but detest the RSA's. They are junk. I am willing to try the new RSA's if they are in fact "new".

If anyone has any information on this "new" tire and when it will be available, please let me know.

Don't have any info for ya, but why do you think the current RSAs are "junk?" I've had no problems with mine on the MSRT8 in the first 5k miles. They certainly are better than the self-seal Continentals of the 300Cs of the past although I didn't really have any troubles with them either... still on my Heritage Edition with 19k miles currently.

Tim, you just need a couple of laps around the track with Dr. Bob to understand why he thinks the RSA's are junk. They are a good street tire but a bad track tire. The F1's are a good track tire, but not the best street tire - they're too noisy and they wear fast. Maybe the new F1 will be better all around - we can only hope.

Tires

As noted above, I like to drive the car at open track days. The RSA's are not good track tires and they weren't supposed to be. However when I ordered my car, the dealer, by mistake, ordered all season tires so I was stuck with the RSA's and not the F-1's. As a street tire they are fine I suppose, but I want a track tire and as a track tire the RSA's are junk.

So, after driving a few SRT-8's with F-1's on them and noticing I was driving a totally different car just because of the tires, I purchased a used set of stock rims. I will get either a set of 4 255/45's or, if someone can convince me their tires are faster, another brand. These tires will be dedicated to only track days.

But I still need street tires, hence the original post. I am reaching out to friends of yesteryear to see if they have any "ins" at GoodYear as they did many years ago. Any information gleaned will be shared.

I also have had no problems with my RSAs. 17,000 mi. so far, and my only complaint is they ride a little hard. I dropped the pressure to 30 psi, and they are much better. only a lot of spirited street driving though, no track. will probably try something else when it is replacment time. I'm hoping nitto tire has an all season redline by that time.

Doc - I put a set of Goodyear F1 - D3's on mine. Great track tire and a good road tire, as well. Excellent wet weather tire. No good below 40 degrees, though.

Here's a link: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

Ok... I understand the description and reasons now. Thanks. My only experience has been straight line track (and only 4 runs at that) and normal street driving... including the current 2500 road trip. Running them at 38 psi and performance has been just fine... and fuel economy... 22 mpg on the highway.
