Well it really depends on what type of wheels you got. If you have cast 22's you added at least 18lbs per wheel. I've had plenty of wheels on my car and I will agree with the cast 22's everything was affectted, gas milage ride, handling everything. I currently have Intro ID three piece wheels, the rears are 22x10 with a 295-25-22 tire. They wiegh 1 lbs more than the stock 18's and there is no affect in ride or gas milage. The price of a three piece set up is more than a cast set up, but as I've always said you can pay now or you can pay later. There is always a price to pay.
man, my gas mileage is just crap. i estimated 50-60 miles per quarter tank. im about ready to take these wheels off and put my stock ones back on. these wheels look nice but the gas mileage is just not worth it right now. im pushing around 220-250 miles per tank and that is just not worth it. this is the only mod i did to my car and screwed my gas mileage.

I'd bet it's not the weight of the wheels, but the larger diameter that's the culprit. The larger diameter has effective made the gearing taller, thus making it more sluggish off the line.
So to get the same acceleration you are used to, you have to give it a bit more welly. So in stop-start driving, you notice the mileage, but not so much on the highway, where there's little acceleration going on.
Now, if you can simply give the car the same amount of power as you used to, and not give it more power to accelerate the way it did, you can maintain the same mileage (trading performance for mileage, essentially).
That's why some folks see mileage losses, and some don't. It's very dependant on your driving habits.

That combined with the fact he put it very eloquently sorry, i'm one of those people who like to put big words in sentences to sound smart.
I put 22's on mine and the same day the Flashpaq Superchip. I wasn't sure why I seemed to be getting considerably worse gas mileage, though I'm pretty certain it is because of the larger and much heavier wheels.
I'll give up a little gas for the great looks and better handling, though.

yeah its just weird. i drive the same as if they were my stock wheels. i keep my rpm's around 2k when around town. i see my gas gauge just drop 1/8 a tank at a time everytime i drive to work. this is just a 13 mile drive. it never did that on my stock wheels. in those 13 miles, it is a combination of city and highway. it is more like 10 miles highway and 3 miles total city.

i dont blame you. i feel the same. i am in a money crunch now and it just feels like im dumping more cash than normal into gas now. my MPG indication will read about 23-24mpg on the highway and about 16-18mpg in city. i know those are not accurate readings even with stock wheels. they at least give me a decent indication on how everything is working out. i know with bigger diameter wheels, those readings may be up to 10mpg off (just guessing).
