22's and fuel mileage

hey guys, ever since i put 22's on my C, the fuel mileage dropped really bad. i knew buying these it would get a bit worse but not like this. i dont have specific numbers yet. i am still working on those. it almost seems like i use up an 1/8 of a tank on a 13-15 mile drive with city/hwy combo miles. i know these wheels are much heavier than stock. does anyone have any input on this subject or share their fuel mileage story with me concerning wheels? i did a search and found nothing. i even drive very easy around town and on the highway and it seems to not make much of a difference. i keep my rpm's around 2k when cruising.

the fuel mileage does not seem too bad when i drive all highway. i did a 150 mile trip to drop my stepchildren off and i did it around 1/4 of a tank. on the way back, the needle was slightly below half a tank by the time i got home. im not sure if i am missing something or what.

I have 22's on my charger, and I have to say I haven't noticed too much of a difference... And mine are davins.. (weigh the same or more than your wheels... + the mesh and + all the spinner setup pieces, and the peg... and the spinner itself)

You sure it isn't in your head? Not calling you stupid, it very well may.. and I'm the one who hasn't noticed.. but gas being 330 a gallon i thought i'd notice more.

i was thinking the same thing...is it in my head? well it seems like i am eating up 1/8 a tank just traveling 15 miles. i can see the needle move. i watched it yesterday. i took my wife to a doctors appointment about 15 miles away and there goes the needle...running down and more down. i know the weight and size of the tires plays in part with the gas. i see there is a predator tuner out that can change the size of your tires with your ecu. i think that would help alot.

I'm with ChargerOnDavins on this one. I didn't see a drastic drop in MPG at all. If there was a difference, it was minimal.

i was always told, the bigger the rim, the harder the engine works to turn it. meaning your revs will be off by a bit, the bigger the rim you have. the smaller the rim the easier it is for the engine to turn the wheel because of the smaller diameter.

the weight of the rims of course add to that as well. city driving +heavy huge rims = bad miliage. stop and go traffic will eat your gas specially with a heavy car. let alone, you guys all drive the C which of course has a bigger enginge.

im just stating what i was told, so dont quote me on what i say cuz im not sure myself.
