Thumbs up

If you want the prep-work done right, do it yourself. Painting a one-piece wheel is no easy task if you want it done as clean as possible. Starting off with a powdercoated center will make everything easier. Trying to prep the chrome for paint isn't easy, nor was it recommended by any of the shops I visited. Take that for what it's worth though, because there are many people out there with colormatched wheels that began as chrome wheels without any issues.

Feel free to check out my colormatching thread:

Hey simans, how much did they charge you to spray them, since you sanded and prepped them?

I actually sprayed them myself, I just had to pay for materials. So depending on your paint code, I'm sure the price will vary slightly.

All the pics on the first page (prep and prime stages) are still up. The only ones that aren't up are the finished pics, but you can see that in my sig. lol

Here's a link to a few more pics if you're interested.

this is the look i want to go for...

i can get the KMC Dimes for $2000 with tires, already color matched (22")

or

i can get the KMC Dimes again, for under a grand with tires (22"), but are already powdercoated a different color, so I'd have to redo them. This is a less expensive route, but the 'problem' is that the little rivets are already powdercoated and it would be a bitch to just chrome those. I want to have the rivets stay chrome.

Simans82- what do you think?
