Wheel Cleaning Blues!

I currently have standard 18inch rims and find they take time to clean because you have to get inbetween each set of two spokes and I've made a special cleaning tool for them. I would like to get a set of Tiz 7s but suspect i will be spending lots of time cleaning those wheels because of how intricate they are.
As such I'm keen to know how difficult or easy people are finding their rims to clean.
I would appreciate all feedback about which rims and how long it takes to properly clean. Would you buy the same rims again?
regards Michaelr

Send a message via Skype™ to Northern Rider
when I had the 18" chrome wheels on my 5.7, I finally discoved that a coat of paint sealer on them when they were clean made the next cleaning easier.

Now I have the SRT8 with polished / painted rims and the OEM pads with mucho brake dust. Hafta cleam 'em twice a week. Major PITA!

Going for some different pads this week.

The 18" chrome clad rims were some of the easiest rims to clean that I have ever owned.
I now have rims similar to the TIS 07's and I use this micro fiber sponge to clean between the spokes, and groves. I use soap and water.
The width of the sponge fits perfectly between the spokes.
It takes me about a minute and a half to clean a rim.

Thumbs up

I've owned the 07's and now KMC Dimes (similar designs) and find them just as easy to clean as any other wheel I've ever owned. A quick soap down after washing the body of the car, then microfiber towl to dry and clean up any other dirty spots and you're all set!

As stated above, I've used chrome polish to make the cleaning easier on the 07's, and on my painted Dimes I use my wax/sealant to shorten the cleaning time also.

The LEAST of your worries should be how long it takes to clean a wheel, the biggest worry should be which of the thousands of wheel designs will be the one you want to choose.

I clean my 22" every other day. Takes me about 5min a wheel. But then my wheels are a solid design so there isn't too many cracks to squeeze in. I also use the PowerBall Mini by Mothers, which attaches to a drill gun. That with Mothers Chrome polish it's pretty fast and easy. =P

I'm with Joey. I use a seperate bucket with soap and water. I use a lambs wool mitt to clean them and I dry them with a clean white t-shirt. I also polish them with Mother's chrome polish once a month or so, depending on how hectic of a month it is!!!!!
