Steering Vibration At 55

I just put on new wheels and tires...Zinik Sabini's in a 20" and the tires are Toyo Proxes 4 255/45/20. The guys at Big Wheels put them on and balanced them...and then realized the factory sent the wrong wheels...hub the wrong size. So they exchanged them. Now the car still has a wobbily steering wheel at 55-60. I bring it back. Wheels balance...but with the tires they can't balance them. I am now getting new tires...they gave me a choice of Toyo Proxes ST or Yokes Spec-X. Called several tire stores for second opinion and they said Toyo. So, tomorrow they are installed. We will see. I do drive this car in the snow, so I couln't go with the Hankook. Plus it didn't come in the size I needed. TBC.

There are many reasons for vibration problems.

1) Did you get a 5.40" bolt circle or the 5x115mm? The vehicle is 5x115mm.
2) Check for a hub centric fitment at 71.50mm.
3) Make sure you have no lug nut galling and are using the correct seat type. RE: Conical 60 degree lugs, etc.
4) Road force balance the wheel and tire assembly on a Hunter road force balancer.
5) Make sure there is nothing holding the wheel from sitting flat against the mounting surfaces on the wheel and the hub.
6) Check your alignment and the suspension for worn out parts including the struts.

Make sure the 2 factory retainer clips are removed from each wheel.
I had 3 alignments after changing over to 20"s (not for shaking) from 2 wheel shops and a Chrysler dealer, and not one of them removed the clips.
I happen to notice the clips when I took my wheels off to adjust my coilovers several months later. But I didn't have any shaking/vibration problems.

thanks so much guys, it seems the new tires are better, but there still is some vibration from the rear and on my rear..i don't like it. Am i being ultra sensitive? can new tires act this way?..what would be the appropriate service center to bring it to? i want to try someone else, as the one hour drive to big wheels is killing me. do I take it to a wheel/tire shop or to a general mechanic?
I do appreciate you help!

In my case and understanding, you should get the "High Speed Wheels balance" it's different with "Normal Wheel Balance".

i had that problem between 50-70. i took it to my friend chris at kustom kings here in vegas. he balanced them and they were perfect. the other ( much busier)custom shop was just in a hurry and didn't take enough time.

just talked to one of the guys at a local reputable wheel shop that was super negative about my 20"s. I am now thinking I should have stayed with the 18's custom and done coil overs....he was telling me how bad and heavy the 20's were for your car...especially on an AWD....I feel like I may not have done enough research and that now I have a great looking car that performs poorly. can anyone make me feel better? anyone want the wheels? heeeellllllp!

He may be right about heavier but my stock srt has 20's with no vibrations so it can be done. There are so many people that have your exact model with aftermarket rims and no issues.
Why dont you try a dealer to road force your wheels

It could be flatspotting on the tires. Sometimes if you're running a soft compound the tires develop minor flatspots overnight which will work themselves out as you drive more.
