BFGoodrich makes the g-Force T/A KDWS (Ultra High Performance All-Season) in a 245/55WR 18 (almost identical height and a slightly wider foot print (but works on the 300C rims). Tire Rack ads them @ $131 ea. (wo Road Hazzard, etc.)

May not be the top choice, but for most driving these ought to be pretty good (the user feed back rated them superior to excellent in all but the "snow" catagory)

You probably don't want to hear this, but most performance tires are only good fro 15-20K miles. I relaize that you may not agree with the performance side, but that is their rating.

Sorry you didn't have a good experience with them. You may want to try the BFGoodrich gforce I refered to earlier...

Good luck!

What I find incredible is how inaccurate the treadwear rating is for most tires, I got 40+ on a set of MXV4, not exactly performance and small on the 87 300E 195/65-15

I think it depends on the application. On a '97 Stratus ES I got about 62K of mixed driving on the same size MXV4's with still some wear remaining. Front wheel drive and lower curb weight?

And I got about 28k on my 85 Benz S-class back when they made them in 205/70-14 (which jives with the weight thing, since mine has a 3900lb curb weight).

If you have a look at my signature line you will see that I have performance cars and I understand performance tires and their low mileage. However, when I purchased the 300 I expected to have a family sedan that had more HP than the average bear, but at the same time have four doors and room for 5. This type of car is not expected to go to the races on the weekend and participate as a warrior. If it goes to the races it’s expected to carry the wife and kids and the picnic basket to the parking lot and that’s it. It’s expected to get a decent amount of gas mileage and a fair ride and last for several years before being traded for the next family car. Yes you expect to replace things on it as time goes by. What you don't expect is to replace things at such an early stage as this. 17K and less than a year is not what is expected for a set of tires on the family sedan.

Well, for whatever reason, I clearly understood that the 300C was a performance sedan (maybe you should have considered the Limited or Touring model with the non-Conti touring radials). Performance does not mean racing. You also have to account for driving habits when rating the "life" of a tire. Agressive driving will reduce the tread life and "your mileage may vary". I've had many cars and have been through more sets of tires than I care to elaborate on. It didn't take long for me to discover that performance tires do not last as long as a more conventional touring-class tire. There are many out there that should serve you well.

Again... sorry you were disapointed, and hope that you will find a nice touring tire to substitue with.
