Angry Rim Damage- Scratch and Polish

Okay, hypothetically, let's say a real good friend of mine was driving his 300C through the drive up bank window lanes and while exiting, bumped the curb at low speed. Now, this friend has 22" rims with low profile tires and heard a scary metallic sound before he corrected his steering. Upon inspection, about 10 inches of rim is scuffed. This friend has lots of product and tools left over from his motorcycle days that he used to use for polishing chrome and he is just wondering if there is a fool proof method for buffing out the scratches and making the damaged portion of the rim shiny again? Thanks for your advice- I'll pass it on to my friend!!!!

Yes there is a solution:

1. remove offending rim
2. buy new rim
3. take damaged rim and beat "friend" around the head with it

Polished rims would be easy... just sand down, smooth, then polish.

Chrome, you might be able to light sand, then polish to make it look better, I don't know... but will still be noticeable. Maybe check a rim shop there in town to see if they can fix it....

Anyone else have a suggestion for chrome wheels??

WOW that is flippin nuts. The same exact thing happened to my rims but it was my fault. I was so worried bout clearing the curb on drivers side that when i put the car in park i must have turned the wheel to the right to correct then i took off, thinking that the wheels are straight heard one scratch then drove up some more and scratched the back one too. The scratch is about 12 in long though. But in my case It sucks even more bc my lip was painted. I dont know how the painter is gonna fix it.

If you value your time just pick up a new one on Ebay for 150 bucks and use the damaged one as spare: eBay Motors: CHROME CHRYSLER 300C 300 C Alloy Wheel Rim 18" OEM (item 260142197578 end time Nov-18-07 1712 PST)

Unfortunatly, last time I checked, my rims retailed for $800 per. Lucky for me, they came with the car because that price for the wheels somewhat offends my good conscience.
