Tires/rims will not screw up ESP. 275/40/20 is the closest/best fit to stock diameter, so your speedo will be OK.

Are you sure? the guy at the dellership said the ESP will not work right. he said since the front tires are smaller that the computer will get mixed readings if all the tires are the same size. the stock tire on the front are smaller. i want to put 275/40/20 all the way around, so i can rotate my tires all around the car. im not saying you are wrong im just trying to make sure. thanks.

Josh, I have been running 275/40/20 on my 2006 Touring for about 8 months now without any problems. I went from a stock 17 wheel to 20's, besides those 275's look fatTTTTTT on the ride.

I assume you have 245/45/20's on your SRT8, with a diameter of 28.68".
The 275/40/20's have a diameter of 28.66". There is no way the diameter of the 275's is going to effect ESP. Even if you got extra wide rims you would have rubbing issues before you have ESP issues.

I have seen several dealers selling new 300's and 300C's with 275/40/20's. You are totally safe/OK to run 275's.

This is great information, thanks
I now have two questions:
1) you are correct, currently my front tires are 245/45/20. so based on the above calculations, the new tires will be .02 smaller. This works. What about the back? Currently they are 255/45/20, I dont know the calculations but I would assume they (255/45/20) have a larger diameter than the 245/45/20 on front. If I went with 275/40/20 all the way around the car, wouldnt that mess with my mileage? (smaller wheels, more RPM's/speed to achieve the same speed. I drive around 65 miles a day).
2)What if I just went with 275/45/20 all the way around? The tires would be a little larger for the back and the fronts would be a larger. Do you think that would have any affect on the ESP system? (front tires are spinning at the same speed as the back tires. The stock setting is the front tires spin faster than the back)

1) Yep, the 255/45/20's are almost 0.4" taller than the 245/45's or 275/40's, and your speedo will be slightly off. That website says your actual speed will be 65.58 mph when the speedometer reads 65mph, or about 0.9% off. That is a small difference that I wouldn't worry about. One small benefit is you actually extend your mileage warranty a few miles because your car's speedo will show fewer miles than you actually drove.
2) I am not sure how Chrysler adjusts the SRT8 for the different tire sizes. SRT8's are also sold with 245/45/20's all around. Maybe the dealer can adjust the speedo with Starscan. I thought I remember someone say Starsan can adjust/calibrate for tire size. I know it can be done with Flashpaq and the Predator. Ask the dealer if their Starscan can adjust your car.

I really doubt changing the rears to 245/45's or 275/40's all around would effect the ESP. There just isn't a big enough difference IMO. ESP doesn't usually kick-in until the car starts to loose traction.

thank you for you help. do you think there will be a problem going with 275/45/20 all the way around instead of the 275/40/20 all around. and also do you know a good website to find a large amounts of tires for sale. i want a tire that does not get worn out as quick. i know that will be hard to find with what i want.

275/45 is over 1" taller than stock. Not sure why you want to go that tall. If you want to fill the wheel well than lower the car with KW's other coilover brand. 275/45 may also have rubbing issues on the front wheels.

I have never bought tires over the internet.
But here are a couple of sites to get started.

Search for Tires by Size
Custom wheels, chrome wheels, alloy rims - BIGCUSTOMWHEELS
