SRT8 Tire Rotation

OK, I am new to this site and have only owned the 300C SRT8 for about a week after owning the Magnum RT for 3 years.

When I purchased the 06 300, it had new Goodyear tires. I would like to buy 2 to match the front or rear to be able to rotate them. Any experience or ideas about this?

Thanks.

Hey, welcome twayne! I'm assuming the tires on your car are Goodyear Eagle F1's and you want to be able to move them front to back. If they are F1's, you know by now the fronts are 245/45/20's and the rear are 255/45/20's.

Many members have used 255's on the front without problems. The SRT Engineers say under severe driving conditions they could rub though. No one to my knowledge has had a problem with this. That would most likely occur on a road course under speed with hard braking in turns.

Of course there are many other tires and I'm sure others will be more than willing to suggest tires.

Make sure to introduce yourself in the New Members area!

Yes, they are the F1's. I appreciate your help and reply. My plan is to buy 2 of the 255's, run them until I need new ones and buy 2 245's and put them with the ones that I take off.

I put Michelin's on the Magnum RT and had a much better ride than I currently have on the 300. Could be the tires or the bigger wheels and more firm suspension. Since I drive around 50,000 miles a year, I will get plenty of chance to try different tires.

Thanks again.

That'll work and yes the firmer suspension makes for a stiffer ride than you're accustomed to from the Magnum. So let me get this right now. You'll be running 255's all around, then buying 245's when they wear out? Are you saying your plan is to have 245's front and back eventually? If that's correct, can't say I've ever heard of anyone doing that. Usually most members want more meat to the street.

Again, I am new to the SRT but since I drive as much as I do, I am looking for a way to improve tire mileage. I could just discard the 245's after putting the other 255's on, but I am not sure that with the type of driving that I do I will be able to tell a big difference in the 2 sizes. May feel different after I do it.

Just a thought here, but why not go to the optional RSA all season tires that are 245's? The F1's are not known for longevity at all. You'll only get 10-14K out of the rear maximum. They're sticky, but the price you pay is they don't last long at all.

Good idea. I am going to look at different options but it looks like I have a few thousand miles to make some decisions.

For now, fun to drive.

Thanks again.
