Lowering Kit w/ 22's

Hey everyone!

I've tried to search for something similar to my scenerio and came out empty handed. I was inquiring about getting my 300 dropped 1.6" with the Eibach Lowering Kit. I have questions regarding clearance, and rubbing.

My Specs:
Base 300
22 x 9.5 - 265/35/22 FALCONS
18mm Offset

Anyone who has this setup or the experience to know whether I'll have clearance and how bad of rubbing if any? Rubbing in regards to that top bolt, and the sides when turning, as well as at high speeds. I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance!

Might have some rubbing issues at full lock in reverse (fronts).

Don't think you would have much trouble... just roll the fenders and you should be ok.

Top bolt shouldn't be an issue until you get into 24" territory....

Any one else?

Thanks CUEBALL. My buddy who is more mechanically advanced would know this but for my benefit of knowing right now. Not sure on the term "rolling the fenders?" Is this the same expression as "tubbing out" which I'm familiar with?

Question

Does this mean that if I get 22's I will need to mod my car? Or by lowering it 1-1/2" - 2" will require a mod?

This is what my question is... It would be better to get your 22's and list off the specs. This has ALOT or EVERYTHING to do with the specs of rims/tires to fit correctly, be flush with fender, and not rub.

I have that nailed down, now I'm just waiting to see if I can still manage that with a 1.6" drop.

Rolling the fenders mean folding the lip at the top of the fenderwell back on itself. It is not always needed... but is good insurance against your tire, while going over a bump (especially while turning) from grabbing the lip of the fender. That would cause a pucker in the fender, a cut tire, or worse. Its good insurance, cost usually under 150.00 to do. Lots of folks haven't done it, and have never rubbed. Especially if you drop 1-1.6". But its worth it... just in case

this is a pic of the procedure being done (Stolen from topmotorsports.. hope you don't mind)

This is what could happen with a large drop and not rolled.. or a small drop and the right bump. Notice how the fender lip is at a 90 degree angle? Rolling it folds it up against itself, so that the tire would just rub the flat surface made by the roll process, instead of the edge on the stock fender (Stolen from adam control... let me know if you mind)

22's do you have to roll fenders

i have 22"x9.5" rims with a 15mm offset and i lowered my car with the eibach sportline kit which is 2" all around, and i packed people in my car and went 20 miles over speed bumps and all and i didnt even rub once. So i dont think you would need it, but if you want to be on the safe side so whats posted above doesnt happen, get your fenders rolled.

Thanks for all the help! It looks like I would only see trouble in the fronts. My rear even with 22's still has a decent gap which annoys the hell outta me. I'm going to talk to my body shop guy tomorrow and see if I can get the front fenders rolled, and bypass the rear.

I noticed another guy in my city with a 300 ridin 22's and had lowered his vehicle...not sure how much he took off the suspension but both of his front fenders were rusted out due to chipped off paint. I am assuming that his tires were banging on his fenders and knocking the paint off them. It looked like **** and frankly would be pretty annoying to look at everyday because you didnt do it right. I even think the back might have been the same but cant recall right now. I am researching the right size of rim/tire to go with as I want to lower my car or bag it..not sure yet..but that decision will be made before I buy anything
