That may have a lot to do with Blizzacs staying in good shape. I am from Finland, so we use 5 months of the year studded tires. TONS of snow and ice.

I would not buy winter tires is your worry is cold weather grip. Buy them if you have problems with snow and ice. Bizzacs and Nokian
s wear fast on dry conditions. It is quite possible to waste them within 20K miles in dry conditions. Besides they are noisy and not comfortable in dry conditions compared to all weather tires.... They tend to flex a lot under load (highere profile), so fast cornering is impared too. (Unless you are on snow.)
In that case I would save the money and stay with the tires you have.

235/65 18 is too tall. Your speedometer will be running 4.893% too slow, you ussually want to stay with in 3%. I geuss it should be ok since its only for the winter, but i think 255/55/18 is the best size due to selection in that size

Thanks,

In my personal experience:

Blizzaks for super grip, but poor handling on dry pavement and wear out fast (had these on a Q-45)

Pirelli Scorpions for good dry handling and long wear, but average grip-good for moderate snow and plowed roads. ( have these on my SRT8)

There are a few good choices. This Bridgestone is one of my favorites.
The Blizzak LM25 will prove its worth on both dry and snow covered roads.
An H rated tire, it will be quite responsive when the weather clears.
$166 each
Yes, we do ship to Canada!

You may also want to look at the Goodyear UltraGrip GW3
$142 for a limited time.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

Well I actually decided to change my stock tires for some Michelin Primacy MXV4, as my local tire dealer had them in stock and i needed something fast as I had a 450km round trip across our local mountain range yesterday. Well they coped very well with rain, slush, and driving through about an inch of fresh snow and compacted snow/ice.

I strongly recommend Pirelli Sotto Zero. Don’t know if they are available on the US market, but the tires are really good even on snow/sleet.
