Tires for stock 18 inch 300C wheels

Gentlemen,

What is the biggest tire someone has mounted on the stock 300c rims (RWD)? I need a new set to replace my crappy Contis. Snow is also an issue as I live in Iowa. Was considering some Goodyear Eagle F1 all season 265/40/ZR18s. What do you think? Any thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

you cant use that tire, stock rim is only 7.5" wide and you need atleast a 9"wide rim for that. Also its 2" shorter so its way to short anyways. I think widest you can go is 255/55/18 which is what i have on my car. Try the good year eagle respose edge it looks like a good choice in that size, lost of options with that size but i think good year eagle respnse edge would work well on our cars. You can also get the nokian wr in that size which would be great for snow but would wear quickly and make your car ride really ruff. Also with this size i find it better to run at about 35psi. 30psi is too low for even the stock tires.

I left my car at work so I can't just go out and look but I'm more than sure when I got new tires last month I got 225/60/R18 yokohama's. I'll have to double check when I get to the office this morning. I'll check back a lil later today to confirm.

Yea thats the stock size but lots of people including me are running 255/55/18 on the stock rim without any problems.

Last year I replaced with 245/55/ZR 18 g-force BFGoodrich and can say they're excellent!

Any concern about speedometer variance with the larger tires?

Not really its a bit taller but nothing to worry about. The diameter difference is only 1.45%. Its when you get past 3 when its a problem. Lots of people have done it, no rubbing either.

To me its more than just the increase diameter....which throws off the speedo, mileage figures of the onboard computer...its the additional weight of the larger tires. You're adding quite a bit of rotational weight to each wheel which effects you're acceleration.
Overall a bad move. If you want a larger footprint, stick with a like diameter tire to the OEM 225/60...which would be a 245/55.
If you want some additional performance than go with the slightly smaller diameter 235/55, which is standard on the Daytona Charger model. That will give you a lighter tire which also has a stiffer sidewall which should give additional handling response and a little quicker acceleration. You will also get a slighly firmer ride with the shorter sidewall however.

Yeah i thought about that when i was putting that size on my car but i havnt noticed any diference wuth aceleration or handelling, he asked what was the biggest tire he could put on not the best for performance.

Remember, for snow, wider is not better. If you want the tires to perform in snow, stick with 225 or 235. Best is 225 winter tires on rims and another set of rims with your wide, low profile performance tires.
