Replaced OEM Contis with non-sealing Conti tires

I went to battle with Continental and complained about the self-sealing tires. My complaints were:

- 3 tires out of round, creating a vibration and resonating sound
- Very sensitive to road crowning
- Impossible to get balanced correctly due to temperature changes
- Very noisy after 15k miles
- Right pull

Eventhough there is no official warranty on the factory tires, they gave me four non-sealing tires (sames size otherwise) for $36/tire.

A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE! All issues above are resolved. I will have to drive some more miles to confirm this, but is seems even the right pull is gone. If you don't want to spend the money on replacement tires, and experience these complaints, call Continental Customer Service and have them setup a file number for you. Then go to an authorized Continental dealer (they'll tell you where to go in your area), and have them inspect the tires, give them the Continental file number assigned to you and have them provide Continental with their findings.

Hope this can help a few of you.

I didn't really have to battle with them to get them to honor some kind of warranty, but glad to see they helped you out as well.

Conti early wear out...warranty...replacements

Question

How many miles did each of you have on your Contis?

Miles

I had 15k on the tires. The noise too became just unacceptable. What gets me about this, is that the whole list of problems just went away by replacing the tires.

Somewhere I remember reading a post that the self-sealers were discontinued. This triggered me calling Conti and asking if they still made those tires. The guy on the phone did not know anything about them being discontinued.

I don't think your car is the lemon, but the tires are!
