NO, It's not just you.
Back in the day, Conti made a great Motercycle tire. It's claim to fame was that the tire "wore" like iron.Oh sure, There was a noticable lack of traction with them, but what the hell - They wear like iron.Basically, what that means is, we 'll have a tougher time shredding our rubber with these harder composition tires.

Yes I too notice the hard highway sound.Very reminicence of the "old" snow tires.I'll just wear these out this season and replace them in the Spring along with wheel mods.

Life is so boring and predictable with regard to this topic.

Ive got 9000 miles on my self sealer Conti's and I haven't noticed and increased road noise. But over the past 1000 miles I have noticed a significant increase in tire squeal when making turns into driveways, or driving on/off freeway on-ramps. I am not driving any harder, but the squeal has really gotten loud.

Joey, Don't worry about it,like I said CONTI'S had ( and still do in my opinion) a reputation for wearing like iron but having an inherent lack of traction. The noise you hear is simply due to the composition rubber " hardening" and becoming basically smooth without becoming bald. Let's just call it an inherent design flaw for those of us who might have expected more from D/C.
I remember back in '87 when buying a new car (Merc.),as I started to sign the agrement I put the pen down and said " wait a minute, what tires does it have on it.They had Firestones which at that time wore out fast.I had noticed several others with " Tiger Paws" on the same model. After checking them, I said that the tires were a deal breaker, but if they simply switched them we were good to go. Next day I drove away with what I wanted. Boy how times have changed ! Talk about having a captive audience.

JUNK is an undersyatement. As I stated earlier, at best, Conti's were basically designed as a Motercycle tire !!

Took mine off for the winter

I took my 18" conti run flats off and replaced them with 20" F1 super car goodyears. Talk about a grip difference, and no road noise

(Of course I'll have to replace them every 15K miles or so, but what the hell

Ill run the conti's in the winter (I'm in NY and this is my daily driver)

Conti Seal Road noise

I hear that too even at very low speed. I really, really hate it. I sure hope that it is the tire not DC suspension design quality.

That is why i have been thinking to buy new tires (not yet though), but would them be 18" or 20" + new wheels ?!
With this car (300C) i would really like quiet tires, good at dry and wet surface. But all other like hard cornering abilites are not so necessary.

Conti Update

We just got a look @ the new (2006) Caddy DTS That we will be using for our Livery Service ( to the tune of 20 each month that we turn over @ 32,000 miles. They also are coming standard with the Conti Self Sealers !!

So it's not just D/C but GM at least as well.Oh well, I figure that they know something we don't know,; or were they given an offer they couldn't refuse??
