As long as they ship to the home address, I dont' see how they can be defrauded.

Sounds like BS to me to get more personal info from you.

THat's the double whammy today with ID theft and fraud. The very same companies that ask for WAY too much personal info are the ones that Con artists get their info from.

It's BS.

The ONLY time I will provide my social security number is if I am arranging financing or proving my indentification to a current creditor....in the later case, I just provide the last four digits.

Like I indicated in the second post of this thread, I would not do business with a vendor, who is not providing financing, that demands my SS#.

I ordered a set of TIS02 20's and Good Years from Tire Rack last Tues around 2:00 from NY and had them at my door step the following eve around 6:00 pm. Unbelievable service. Used a MC account. They did call my residence 20 mins or so later to verify the purchase which I appreciated. Very impressive outfit. Would highly recommend. Call Doug at extension388. He was very knowlegable and professional.I too have spent heavy dollars over the years on the internet. Tire Rack is A#1

I recently ordered KDW2 tires from the Tire Rack. I used a Visa Credit Card. Had them shipped to an installer. I did not have to provide any unusual info.

The service was great; the sales person very knowledgeable; the recommended installer was excellent; and the follow up was thorough.

In short, one of the best on-line buying experiences i have ever had.

I am a businessman who processes a large volume of Credit purchases online and over the phone. I was not aware that you could use a debit card this way - as it directly accesses your bank account. sounds like a security nightmare.

hey guys,
my Tire Rack experience was great.
The easiest thing I've ordered in a while...
and the best part the F1's supercars that I ordered where $227.00 a tire...
Discount Tire is at $374.00 a tire...

cheap price...
great internet experience...
and shipped when they said they would and installed at dealer for free and aligned...
guys try this sometime...

sorry you had a bad experience L8R Homie...
the SSN thing would have thrown me too...
it's behind you now...

Couldn't agree more....I just got a set of tires for my truck for $326 (including road hazard warranty) yes! $326 for 4 all terrain Bridgestone Dualer AT's

Local tire shop couldn't touch that for less than $300 more.

I'm a Tirerack customer for life......and besides......they're a hoot and a hollar away. (Indiana?)
