Nice Ride!

Let me thank II Kings and all the others that recommended the Goodyear Assurance Comfortread. These tires put the 300C in the ride comfort class with "Luxury" cars. The smoother less harsh ride is immediately noticeable. If you have the self-seal Conti's like I did and want a more civilized ride; get the Goodyear's.

jjs - you will get used to them. If you run 'em at 35psi, they feel hard too. But run 'em at 33 psi and they are not too squirrely and still smooth.

Could you guys clarify a little what "squirrely" means?

Well, I'll try. At 1st it seems that when you start a turn, you can feel the sidewall flexing. Sorta like they are trying to roll over ... the sidewall. Softer sidewall means (usually) softer ride but can allow the thing to feel mushy/soft/squirrelly starting into a turn. Pump 'em up to about 33psi and they are not as firm as the rock hard Cont's yet don't feel mushy. Did that do it or did I just muddy the already murky waters?

Yes, that pretty much explained it. Thanks.
I will be replacing my self-seal Contis with the GY any day now (less than 1000 miles), based on feedback from here. I don't think I'll be throwing out the original ones yet, though. I prefer softer ride to better cornering, so hopefully it will work out for me.

Yeah, that pretty much explains part of the meaning of 'sQuirrelly'...I actually also meant when trying a 'fake' emergency lane change on a clear country road by me, the rear seemed to bound out a bit more and the tires seemed to 'flex' outward more than i am accustomed to...didn't feel nearly as tight.

I changed the tires yesterday, and really like them. This is definitely the kind of ride I prefer. Thanks a lot for the advice.

Yea I have had them for 6000 miles now. Much better ride and less bouncing. They did feel "softer" and "looser" at first but I got used to that and to tell the truth like the overal feel better. I like to keep them at 30 and they do feel like they "bend" in the corners a little more. Ya know though sometimes I test them and really hit a corner hard and they hold fine all the way. Of ourse not like a wider lower profile tire but OK for what I need.
