Air pressure monitor when using aftermarket rims?

The 2006 SRT8's havt TPM. (not sure about other LX's)
Point is: when you add aftermarket rims, how do you get tire pressure readings?

You transfer the O.E.M. valve stems to your new wheels.

Buy a new set at your local parts counter. Saves you the problem of the swap and you can still use your OEM wheels if need be with out breaking down the wheel/tire.

I just got my tire pressure sensors (ordered from my local parts dept).... was like a 4 week backorder and runs you about $200 plus tax. Oh and don't forget to have them order the nuts (diff part #) that secure them to the rim or you will wait another week like I did. Haven't installed them yet. Will post when I do. Can't provide you part #'s because they are dependent on your vin#. Apparently Chrysler is between suppliers and have two different models.

Thanks gang. I was not sure of the technology to measure and transmit the pressure.
I'm getting a 2nd set of rims and will just buy a 2nd set of valves.

What Djjasond said

Make sure they order the correct nuts as well. I bought new valves and nuts for the 20" F-1's and will use the stock 18" contis for the winter

This whole topic is driving me crazy. Is there another way without spending the $200.00 on the new valves, then taking apart the wheels and tires, re mounting them, and then another balance ($350.00 at least, my place charges $13.00 each tire mount and dismount x 8) to get the stupid warning off?

All the techies out there, are you telling me that there is no wires to cut, no computer to bypass, nothing? I find this highly unusual. And some wheels don't even accept the TPM valves because of the placement of the holes for the stems.

Come on all you smart car guys let's think of something, then we can charge $100.00 for the fix, and everyone will be happy especially me

Anyone else been thinking about this ?

Don't forget that you have to program you TPM's for each wheel location as well, or your computer will tell you that the passenger front is low when it might be the driver's rear tire that is actually down.

I would love to pay a hundred and not have it... Call me cheap, but I am fairly certain I can tell whent the tire is low on air pressure.
