Cool Ticking noise

Ok, bought the car and it was Quiet under the hood. after about 25000 miles it started to tick like the Injectors do. noticed that it was getting louder and started to complain to the dealer, no satisfaction. recently took to another friend at a dealer who said he could hear the number 7 cylinder louder than the rest and out the exhaust as well. took it to my normal dealer who noticed the skip when engine is running( you know that old muscle car rumble) and the RPM gauge also confirmed it going up and down about 50 to 100 RPM. the put it on the scanner and nothing wrong. Chrysler will not let them go into the motor unless the scanner picks up something. I guess I didn't know that a computer would pick up a veriation in idle. Anyone have any sugestions and/or what it might be and how to resolve it. thanks

Is the tick at idle? If so, it is normal. It is coming from the lifters and all Hemi's tend to idle a little rough as well. I think your fine. Just have the dealership document the problem in case it does get a lot louder and something else starts to happen. But it sounds like the same tick we all have. After you run it pretty hard it should smooth out. Then when it's warming up again you'll hear the tick.

I agree with Moose. When I had my 5.7 I too noticed a ticking sound at idle and mentioned to my dealership. (around 22k) They checked it all out and proclaimed it as normal. But I did make sure it was documented. If anything worse happens you’ve at least got proof that you brought it in and had it looked at. Good luck!

Now, you should hear our oil squirters.

yes it is at idle, have noticed that it does not change after long run. what if anything can be done if it gets worse and it then runs out of warrentee.
