2018 - 300 Limited - Squeaking in the trunk

I'm getting a squeaking noise while driving. It varies off and on but is more noticeable at higher speeds. Trying to pinpoint the noise but have been unsuccessful. Removed the spare and replaced. Still squeaking. Any suggestions.

Thanks.

Does it sound like a bird chirping? Has the rear of the car ever been in an accident?

Yes. It sounds like a bird chirping. Bought it used with 11,000 miles. No accidents reported via Car Fax.

I had the same thing happen with mine. It started after I was rear ended. Here are some things to check;

Missing or loose fasteners. There are a bunch of fastener points that secure the rear bumper cover. Check the plastic fasteners in the wheel wells. There are 2 smaller screws on the bottom of the bumper cover near the wheel well. There are 2 nut fasteners under the center of the bumper cover that spin onto threaded posts that are on the bottom of the gas tank. There are 2 larger screws, 1 on each side; that are behind the wheel well insert.

I actually changed all of the above, and while it fixed the issue 90% of the time, there was still times I could hear the squeak. At that point, I decided to remove the rear bumper cover assembly. Turns out that the body shop didn't put my car back together correctly. There are teeth on the rear center of that snap in to a bracket that is right below the trunk opening. A couple teeth were not properly inserted on the right-hand side. Ironically enough, this causes a slight gap in rear quarter panel and bumper cover. I just attributed it to the car being hit and that it would never be the same. Once I put everything back together correctly, the gap was gone on the right side and I have yet to hear the noise since.

Do you have pass through seats? Are they secure. Have you listened for the noise with the seats down?

This is where the squeaks occur on my 2013 300 S.
