Front hub clonk?

Sorry, yet another front clonk noise question, but I cant see any likely answer in other threads so bear with me-
I have a pulsating snagging when braking gently, so I'm assuming I have warped front discs, had them before on my PT Cruiser so know that feeling. But from 50 down to 20 there is also a loud clonk on the nearside "doink doink doink" in time with the pulses. . OK - so I had the wheel off today to check the discs and they are well scored so I will order new pads and discs for next weekends project. The Arb bushes look pretty slack too so I'll do those too as it's always clonked over ramps/drains etc.
BUT- once I dropped the car back on the wheel and was tightening the nuts, I noticed as I leaned on the wrench the wheel rocked towards the wrench approx 5mm and I heard the clonk sound from the hub/pivot area. I'm gonna book into a garage but does this sound like a loose hub nut? I wouldn't expect worn arm bushes to allow this movement (but I'm an electrician not a mechanic)
Thanks

Eggyolks GLOWING. Parking brake UNSEIZED. TPMS/immobiliser lockout ENDURED. BRAKE vacumn pipe UNKINKED. Glowplug issues ONGOING. Arb bushes TO DO

How many miles has the car done and have you ever had the ball joints replaced?

135k. Unknown service history. I've had a new top wishbone 5k ago. I tried the same wrench test on the driver's side and that was solid, but on the passenger side I could make it clonk every time I rocked it and put rotary pressure on the wheel.

I'd suspect the lower balljoint. Not an easy DIY replacement (needs a specialist tool to remove and replace the balljoint) though if you have some tools and are proficient you can check the balljoint by cracking the arm that holds the hub off the balljoint and checking it

The other way which will give you some view is to raise the car (obviously well supported), remove the wheel and get in there with a pry bar to check

Cheers guys I've done some youtubing and I think you're probably right. Gonna try and video it with my phone while I rock it to see if it's moving. What would be a fair price for the garage to press it out and replace it?
