There should be a way you can lock the car with out having to worry about the alarm going off when you unlock it with the key. Kind of anoying.

hmm.. it didnt do that on mine.. cause right when i got my car, the key fob died, and i had to do it manually for a couple weeks.. and it did just fine.. i dunno, maybe thats jus on a non-c.. odd.

OK--thanks to all

I guess it's one of the weird things we have to live with.

Solution to alarm going off with key unlock

I bought my 300C new in 2005. Now both of my key fobs are dead (new battery didn't work). After reading all the posts, I tried something that seems to work. First I lock the car using the button on the driver door. Then I pull the lock button up to unlock the driver door. Then I lock the door with the key. When I unlocked the driver door using the key, the alarm did not sound when I opened the door. However, I did not wait any amount of time prior to unlocking the door, so if there is a time greater than a few seconds before the alarm detection is turned on, it may not work. Will try later.

If you try to unlock using the key... right away after locking the doors, no matter how you lock the car, it will work without setting off the alarm. But, once the rapid red flashing light on the left of your dash between the speedometer and fuel gage goes to slow flash (about 15 seconds later) the alarm is set and it will go off. Such a pain.
