Question HELP---Unlock with key--alarm goes off

Did I miss something in the owner's manual? As the title says, when I unlock the door with the key the car alarm goes off. Any ideas? Thanks.

if you have the factory alarm....unlocking with the key will not disarm it.

Mr. I.....if your reading, any input?

Mines the same... you have to disarm it with the remote unlock function... that's just the way the system was designed.

As posted, its designed that way. Only the fob will disarm the alarm.

This includes opening from the inside...for example, if you leave somebody in the car while you run into a store or whatever, use a method other than the fob to lock the doors. Otherwise, if that person unlocks the door to get out or as a convience to you as you return, the alarm goes off. Chrysler isn't unique in this, I know some Chevrolets do the same thing.

Kinda nice though, becuase for a quick trip into the store (think convenience store, not a mall), you can leave the windows down, hit the lock button, knowing that if any bozo tries to open the door, you'll know.

Cool

Mine went off last week as well, I was washing the car and I did the same thing you did, used the key to unlock the door and my alarm went off.
That is just the way it is designed.

if you lock the car with the key fob, you must unlock it with it, or else it will go off. the key fob is what engages the alarm.

if you press the lock button on the door, it can be unlocked either way. the alarm is not armed this way.

That isn't true in my case. I have had a problem with my FOB not working. So instead of leaving my car unarmed, I would manually lock the car doors. Upon returning and unlocking with the key, the alarm will go off every time. There should be a way you can lock the car with out having to worry about the alarm going off when you unlock it with the key. Kind of anoying.
