Front squeak - only after driving for an hour or so

Hi All,

Just the 2nd long journey in my "new" Chrysler 300C this weekend.......absolutely loving it!....even though there are a few minor issues to sort out.

One odd thing, after about an hour of driving, I started to hear a squeaking noise from the front nearside. I am assuming it is suspension related as it seemed to be every little bump in the road that caused the squeak.

Funny thing was, after stopping and leaving the car for a short while, the squeak disappeared, but did come back again some time later. I tried bouncing the car on the front nearside wing immediately after hearing the noise but couldn't reproduce it.

I've been looking through all the posts about suspension noises (clonks and squeaks) and realise that this is one of the features of the Chrysler, but I would really welcome any thoughts on where to start looking, especially as it is not that easy to replicate.

Looking at previous posts it seems like I should perhaps start by lubricating some of the suspension bushes, but not sure which ones to start with first......also what best to lubricate with as WD40 has been suggested as not the best product to use.

Very many thanks.

Most likely the nearside ARB bush as it is close to the exhaust. Mine used to do that before I changed the ARB bushes

Thank you, that's very helpful.

I have just been reading up on the forum about changing bushes. Presumably this is the stabilizer bar bush?

Do you have any recommendations as to the best place to get the bushes from in the UK? The US post above refers to MOOG parts.

Thanks for the help with this.

I have now changed the ARB bushes but I still have exactly the same suspension squeak.

Readng through many forum posts, I think my next guess is the upper control arms. I have bought some silicone spray (made by WD40) and intend to spray the bushes on the upper control arm to see if this makes it quieter (although presumably that will only be a temporary fix).

To recap, the squeak is a bit like squeaky bed springs. Seems worse at slow speed and doesn't do it until I have driven a few miles. Seems to happen sooner if I have more people in the car. If I park and leave the car for a short time the squeak only returns again after a few miles

I have looked at upper control arms on ebay and they seem to vary dramatically in price, starting from aroud £70 for a pair. Quite a few of these cheapones seem to have been sold in ebay so am wondering if anone has any views as to whether they are likely to be any good.

Thanks again.

I bought my replacement suspension parts from these guys a couple of years ago and they've been fine since: Link
